We're on the road back to Switzerland, and France gave us the most beautiful goodbye. π»
A sunflower field stretching as far as we could see β golden, and completely breathtaking in the afternoon light. I had to stop. Some things demand that you just stop and take them in.
This Herbal Nomad journey is almost over. From the rose bloom of Switzerland to the geranium of the Alps, through the lavender, rosemary, clary sage and everlasting of Provence, into the orange groves of Spainβ and now this. One last golden field to send us on our way.
I'm carrying so much home with me. Beautiful organic essential oils sourced directly from the growers who tend them. Conversations with makers and farmers who have dedicated their lives to these plants. A renewed sense of why botanical skincare, done honestly, matters so much.
And of course β so many ideas for you. For current Sanflora products and new ones still taking shape. I can't wait to share them.
And to all my Sanflora Friends β wherever you are β I'm sending you sun and love from this golden French countryside. πβοΈπΏ
Thank you for travelling with me. Truly.

I love watching someone open this lid for the first time β that half-second pause, then the smile that arrives before they've said a word. The smell is a heart opener π§‘. But our Neroli Hand Cream also moisturises, hydrates, and softens, while nourishing, protecting and helping repair and restore the skin. Sweet almond and macadamia oils do the deep work; neroli does the rest for your mood. Sending some mediterranian love to you and your hands. π€² Available online on www.sanflorawellbeing.nz

If orange is sunshine, neroli is sunshine remembered β bittersweet, floral, a little melancholic in the best way. Named in the 17th century after the Princess of Nerola, who loved orange blossom so much she bathed in it daily. It's my favourite kind of symphony: calming and heart-opening at once. π

Ever bitten into a fresh orange from Spain? That hit of scent before you even taste it, the juice, the sweetness with just a whisper of bitterness underneath β just like its Essential Oil. And there's a reason for that.
Sunny summers, sea breeze rolling in off the Mediterranean, and very little water through the hottest months. βοΈ Stressed just enough, the tree pours its energy into survival and reproduction β building aromatic compounds to keep pests away and to lure in pollinators with that unmistakable blossom scent. Add centuries of farmers who know exactly how to nurture these trees, and you get fruit like this. Nature's kindness, really β we just get to enjoy it. π

Herbal Nomad from the Swiss Alps to Provence: A Journey with Sanflora Read about my Herbal Nomad Journey from the Swiss Alps to the Provence
Driving into Northeast Spain, the mountains open into valley after valley of orange orchards β rows stretching toward limestone ridges, the Mediterranean close enough to feel it in the air. No blossom, no harvest right now, but standing here you feel the rhythm of this land instantly: rice paddies to the south, ancient olive groves on the hillsides, citrus everywhere in between. Sun, sea, and soil, working together the way they have for centuries.
What a journey this has been. πΏ
Lavender, rosemary, clary sage, everlasting β I walked through them all. Met the people who grow them, who distill them, who have dedicated their lives to these plants. And came away with the most incredible organic essential oils to bring back to New Zealand.
France gave me so much. And you came with me for all of it β thank you. π
My full Sanflora range is still available online while I travel. Link in bio. π

I saved the best one for the last of my Provence journey. You might not have heard of Helichrysum italicum β but in the world of Aroma Therapy, it's something of a legend.
The French call it Immortelle, or Everlasting β and that name says it all. What makes this oil so precious is that it simply cannot be synthesised. It takes a staggering amount of these small, papery flowers to produce even a tiny amount of essential oil, which is why true helichrysum is rare, sought after, and deeply respected by anyone who works seriously with plant medicine.
And there's something quietly magical about this plant β even when dried, the flowers never lose their vivid golden yellow colour. They remain bright and beautiful long after the harvest. Everlasting, in every sense of the word.
Traditionally used for centuries for its anti-inflammatory and skin-regenerating properties, helichrysum is also a wonderful ally for the nervous system. Uplifting and energising, it works like sunshine in a bottle β warming you from the inside out, lifting the mood, and bringing a sense of vitality back to a tired body and mind.
Standing in a helichrysum field in Provence was one of those moments I'll carry with me for a long time. That warm, honeyed scent β slightly spicy, a little earthy β drifting through the afternoon air. And knowing I was about to bring that goodness home to New Zealand made it even sweeter.
I've included helichrysum in my Queenstown Sun Body Oil β and sourcing it organically and directly here in Provence has made it even more special. It's a deeply emollient, nourishing oil that melts into the skin beautifully, leaving it soft, comforted, and cared for. The scent alone is a mood-lifter β warm, golden, and uplifting in the best possible way.
And right now, in the depths of a New Zealand winter, I think we could all use a little of that. Some warmth for the body. Some sunshine for the mind. A moment of comfort for the soul. πΏβοΈ
