This is one of the biggest misconceptions I hear in the treatment room.

The skin doesn't always become sensitive overnight. In many cases, sensitisation is cumulative, meaning repeated exposure over time can eventually trigger a reaction.

Certain fragrance compounds, including limonene and linalool, can oxidise when exposed to air and UV light, creating by-products with documented allergenic potential. For some people, this can contribute to irritation, redness or dermatitis, even after years of using the same product without issue.

This isn't about fear. It's about understanding how the skin works.

So, if Prologic doesn’t use silicones, what does it use instead? 🤍

This is where it gets really interesting.

Prologic doesn’t simply remove silicones from its formulations. Instead, it uses ingredients chosen to work with the skin’s natural barrier.

Aura Beauty is my boutique, home-based skin studio in Rolleston a calm, private space where you can slow down, switch off from the outside world and receive treatments that are thoughtfully tailored to you.

Over the years, my passion for beauty has naturally evolved into a deeper passion for skin health.

The more I’ve learned about the skin, the more I’ve realised that healthy, resilient skin isn’t about quick fixes or constantly adding more. It’s about understanding how the skin functions, respecting its natural processes and giving it the right support to thrive.

That’s why I chose to specialise in Corneotherapy.

My approach is barrier-first and centred around restoring and supporting healthy skin function, rather than working against the skin.

Every skin is different, and your skin’s needs can change over time. That’s why I don’t believe in a one-size-fits-all approach. Your treatments are personalised around what your skin needs now, with a focus on creating long-term skin health - not just a temporary result.

Why your cleanser matters 🤍

One of the reasons I love Prologic is that every formulation decision is made with the skin barrier in mind.

Instead of harsh conventional surfactants, Prologic uses COCO GLUCOSIDE a gentle, non-ionic cleanser derived from coconut and glucose to cleanse without the barrier-disrupting properties associated with SLS and SLES.

And the cleansing starts BEFORE the cleanser.

My FAV the PRE CLEANSE OIL does the heavy lifting first, dissolving makeup, sunscreen and excess sebum so we don’t need high concentrations of surfactants to get skin feeling clean.

Prologic also uses SOY LECITHIN, a phospholipid that works beautifully with the skin’s own barrier structure, rather than relying on PEG derivatives that can strip lipids from the stratum corneum.

Because healthy skin isn't about getting that squeaky-clean feeling.

The 3 R’s of Corneotherapy provide the foundation for my approach at Aura Beauty:

1. REPAIR
First, we focus on restoring the skin barrier. Using skin-identical ingredients such as ceramides, cholesterol and linoleic acid, we help replenish what the skin has lost, supporting hydration and reducing moisture loss.

2. REPLENISH
Once the barrier is stronger, we can begin to nourish the skin with the nutrients it needs to function well. Ingredients such as niacinamide and panthenol support healthy skin function while helping to soothe and strengthen.

3. REGENERATE
Finally, we support the skin’s natural renewal process without creating unnecessary inflammation. This means respecting the skin’s natural desquamation rhythm rather than constantly pushing it with harsh exfoliation, aggressive peels or abrasive treatments.
