After a year of welcoming clients into my private studio, it’s exciting to finally have our Mai Salon signs installed.

When I opened Mai Salon, I wanted to create something different. A calm, one-on-one space where clients could enjoy personalised service, precision haircutting, bespoke colour, styling, and genuine connection without the rush of a busy salon environment.

These signs may seem like a small thing, but they represent a year of hard work, building relationships, creating beautiful hair, launching a new website, and growing a business I’m incredibly proud of.

Thank you to every client who has trusted me with their hair and supported this journey so far. Here’s to the next chapter.

Moisture tip that changes everything:

Hydration first. Oils are the seal, not the drink.

If your curls feel dry but youre already using oils, you might be sealing in dryness.

Try this order:
1) Hydrating leave-in or curl cream
2) Then a tiny amount of oil on the ends to seal

If youre not sure what your hair needs, a consultation makes it simple. Well look at your curl pattern, porosity, and routine and build a plan that works.

Between washes, curls dont need a full reset. They need a refresh.

Try this on day 2 or 3:
1) Light mist of water (not soaking)
2) A small amount of curl cream through mid-lengths and ends
3) Gentle scrunch, then leave it alone while it dries

If your refresh never lasts, its usually a sign the cut, moisture balance, or product choice needs adjusting.

Message the page if youd like a curl routine built around your hair and your lifestyle.

If your curls feel like hard work, you dont need more products. You need a plan.

Mai Salon is appointment-only and consultation-led, so we can:
assess what your curls actually need
recommend the right treatment for moisture and manageability
shape your cut so your curls sit beautifully as they grow out

Message the page to book a consultation and well map out your curl care routine and treatment plan.

Most frizz is a moisture problem first.

Curly hair needs:
• water (hydration)
• slip (so curls don’t snag and break)
• a seal (to lock in softness and definition)

If you’re using heavy oils but still feel dry, your hair may be missing hydration underneath.
If you’re using lots of curl cream but feel sticky, you may have buildup that blocks moisture from getting in.

A good treatment plan can change everything, especially when curls have been fighting dryness for years.

Curly hair doesn’t need more washing. It needs the right washing.

If your curls feel dry, fluffy, or undefined, it’s often not “bad hair” at all. It’s wash day timing, product choice, and how you reset moisture.

A simple guide:
• If your scalp gets oily quickly, wash a little more often, but keep it gentle
• If your curls feel dry or brittle, wash less often and focus on hydration
• If your curls lose shape by day 2 or 3, you may need a better refresh routine, not another full wash

At Mai Salon, we look at your curl pattern, density, and lifestyle, then build a routine that actually works between appointments.
