🌟 Let’s dive into how Manual Lymphatic Drainage (MLD) works its magic on our nervous system! 💆‍♀️✨

MLD can have several effects on the nervous system, mainly through its influence on the autonomic nervous system and the parasympathetic nervous system 🌿🌛

MLD strokes are slow, rhythmic, repetitive and a light pressure which promotes relaxation and induces a parasympathetic response in the body ✨🙌

The parasympathetic nervous system is responsible for the “rest and digest” functions, counteracting the stress response of the sympathetic nervous system. By stimulating PNS, MLD helps to reduce stress, lower heart rate and promote and sense of calm and wellbeing 💫🌈 🧡

My why 💜

Today marks 7 years since I lost my beautiful Mum, Julie 👩‍👧

She is the reason I do what I do, witnessing the struggles of someone dealing with cancer and lymphedema inspired me to help those that I can.

Time doesn’t necessarily make the loss any easier, some days it hurts more than the day we lost her.
It comes in waves hitting you hard in the face when you least expect it 🥺

Grief is love with no where to go, and so I give it to those that I can make a difference for, be it big or small.

Being able to honor my Mum within my work is so special, it makes me feel close to her and fills my cup knowing I get to give to others what I used to give to her 💕

My heart goes out to anyone that is grieving a loved one, for those going through their own cancer journey and those who fought the fight and won but still have the daily reminders like lymphedema that affects them daily 💪🏼

My inbox is always open and would love to help however I can 💜

Hello and welcome to my page The Lymph Fairy!

I would like to share a little introduction into who I am and why I have started my mobile massage business.

My name is Ayla and I have been a qualified massage therapist for 14 years, studying professional massage straight out of high school.

In 2012 my dear mum was diagnosed with melanoma that required extensive surgery which resulted in secondary lymphedema of her leg.
Lymphedema is a chronic inflammatory condition that causes swelling when the lymphatic system has been damaged or lymph nodes removed. It can be managed but there is no cure.

For 5 years mum fought but unfortunately she lost her battle in early 2017.

During her final months I was her fulltime caregiver, she sometimes required stays in hospice and it was there that one of the amazing nurses introduced me to manual lymphatic drainage.

During that time I decided to study further to specialize in manual lymphatic drainage and provide massage for those affected by cancer, their caregivers and those at end of life.

My vision for my business is deeply personal and meaningful, it is a way for me to honor my beautiful mum, feel close to her and help those who need it in the comfort of their own home.
