Now it’s time to bring Hāloa to life properly.

Hi, I’m Lou.

Some of you know me from our Auckland days — we owned Kafuné in Onehunga for 14 years (which still blows my mind).
It was an incredible chapter… hard work, so much fun, and I had the privilege of working alongside some amazing people.

Back in 2011, after an unforgettable trip and wedding, I had a real moment of clarity — I didn’t want to keep working in spaces that didn’t align with my values.
Leo had been saying this to me for years… and he was pretty happy when I finally listened.

Not long after, I stepped into owning my own salon — and I still remember that first day working for myself. It felt surreal.
From there, we poured everything into building something special — long days, full books, and so many beautiful connections with clients over the years.

Now, life looks a little different.

We’ve slowed down, moved to Te Aroha, and welcomed our little one into the world.
And with that… Hāloa Studio was born.

Hāloa is our personal space where I can return to what I love most — creating natural, beautiful hair and making people feel good in themselves.

I’m so excited to open this new chapter and welcome you into the studio.
