1960 | Working at the Railway Station 🚂

There is something about old photographs that makes you long for a time you never fully knew, or a time you wish you could visit again.

1960. Working at the railway station. A different pace of life, when journeys took longer, stories travelled from one person to another, and showing up for work meant becoming part of the rhythm of a community.

I look at moments like this and wonder about the conversations, the dreams, the laughter and the ordinary days that eventually became history.

Some memories live beyond the people who made them. They remind us where we come from and how much life has changed.

Before the world had a chance to tell me what I couldn’t do, Grandma Esnath had already taught me to believe that I could.

She made me believe I could go anywhere, achieve anything, eat what I wanted and work anywhere.

Whenever I told her I wanted to do something, she never questioned whether I could do it. Her response was always, “When are you going to do it, and how do you plan to do it?”

She never planted seeds of doubt. She planted belief, then taught me that belief needed a plan and action.

Looking back, I realise what a powerful gift that was. She gave me permission to imagine a life beyond what I could see around me. ❤️

My grandmother used to say, “May you find joy within, even when the circumstances around you are not good.”

Life will not always go according to plan. You will make mistakes, take wrong turns and have moments you wish you could redo.

Forgive. Forgive yourself. Then forgive yourself again and again.

Give yourself permission to keep living, learning, laughing and finding joy from within. 🤎

Some days, the best thing you can wear is a beautiful hairstyle and a little grace for yourself. 😊
