OK guys I really feel the need to set a few things straight ... PLEASE please don't listen to salons or incorrectly educated therapists who promote Acrylic enhancements as "bad for you" or "dangerous" as this is absolutely 150% NOT true ... The majority of issues you will see whilst wearing acrylic enhancements are caused by incorrect maintenance or removal!! If the correct prep and application has been adhered to and the removal is done properly your nails will grow beautifully and never see a day of damage! and whilst I am ranting ... NAILS "Do not breath" lol so dont ever worry about "having a break" from going into your favourite salon :) Like I said above if the correct products are used and if the prep and removal are done correctly your nails will look like this .... I have worn product (ie acrylic, gel, gel polish etc) on my nails for over 20 years straight and the only issues I have ever had have been if i have picked them off :) feel free to ask any questions and dont believe the crazy hype!! Ethical and educated salons are in the market of enhancing what you have not destroying it and acrylic is one of our friends 🙌🏼😳 xx L

Feeling shocked at seeing this today this a local Young lady's nails who had them done in summer nearby she ended up in AE and lost her nail. Just found this article about MMA
Every town has the cheaper nail salons, running on a walk in basis, giving a full set of acrylic nails at what seems to be a bargain price.........Or is it?
Introducing the not so nice MMA - (methylmethacrylate)
This is a chemical liquid to make some nail extensions.
It is a poisonous substance and a high sensitiser and likely allergen that can cause severe allergic reactions through minimum exposure
It has been banned in many states in Amercia due to the above and in the UK only no-standard salons will use this product. You will usually smell it before you see it!
M.M.A was designed to make dental acrylic, you know, false teeth, dental veneers etc etc, it is safe to be used for this purpose , however it is is completely undeveloped for use in the nail industry.
Basically if you have M.M.A acrylic on your nails you are wearing dental veneers as acrylic nails!
What damage can M.M.A cause
M.M.A causes nail allergies, nail disfigurements and infections (which if left can rot the nail) soreness, complete /partial loss of nail, ridges, respiratory problems and the strong odour can cause asthma attacks. Look below at an example of a ladies nail due to M.M.A, it has totally rotten the nail.
Why is it used
Plain and simple...ITS CHEAP....No professional supplier will sell M.M.A as they couldnt afford the liability. Also M.M.A enhancements rarely break on impact, when have you ever known false teeth to break ?
The damage is done underneath the natural nail.
The adhesion of methyl methcrylate nailproducts is relatively poor, forcing the nail technician
to overly abrading the nailpalte, usually by using some form of an electric drill resulting in
excessive thinning and weakening of the natural nail plate. Physical abrasion is the least
desirable method for preparing the natural nail because it causes unnecessary damage to
the nail plate and leads to client injury. However, it is the only method that works when methyl
methacrylate artificial nails are applied.
Nails with MMA are extremely difficult to remove, they are nearly insoluble in acetone and other solvents. Most acrylics that are made of MMA can take upto 2 hours to remove and will resemble sticky slimey chewing gum when in acetone.
EMA - the safe product used in all standard salons will usually dissolve on the nail plate and be easily removed in around 30 mins.
NOW WHAT ABOUT THE NAIL DRILL!!!!
If the nail technician cuts your cuticles or skin, and burns you with the drill the chances
are they have not been properly trained to use a drill. If the product does not contain
MMA drills are not necessary and only regular board files should be used!!
WOW below is a pic of some mega thin nails due to excessive filing with a drill, with mma damage :(
A slip of the hand with a drill and this happens!!!!............... NICE!!!
An electric nail drill should NEVER EVER be used on your natural nail!!!
How many times have your hands been cut with an electric nail file or drill?????
Are you certain that the drill has been sanitised inbetween clients?
My guess is no, they run like conveyor belts, one gets up another sits down.
A breeding ground for allsorts of diseases, and even worse Hepitatis, HIV need I go on........
Classic MMA acrylic......... Notice the yellow discolouration on the nails and the acrylic itself!!
So, How can you tell if your nail extensions contain M.M.A?
M.M.A nail enhancements are very very hard with a yellow tinge a "fishy" odour and a grainy texture. The enhancemnets are usually finished by airbrushing the tip white instead of using white acrylic. M.M.A nail also only bonds to the natural nail with the use of a electric drill.
Signs a salon is using M.M.A
-Client NOT asked to fill in a client consultation form(essential to establish allergies etc)
-Lack of good hygiene(ALL metal implements and files should be cleaned and sanitised prior to use on a client)
-Electric files/drills used (essential to bond M.M.A to the nail).
-Enhancements/acrylic extensions priced at £15-£25....IF IT'S TOO GOOD TO BE TRUE IT USUALLY IS!!
-Enhancements yellow after 2-6 weeks
-Nail technician wears a MASK, very rarely offer the client a mask
-Nail technician often cannot or refuses to speak any English .Therefore being unable to answer your questions in relation to which products they are using
-Acrylic liquid and powders not labelled, i.e technician using a plain dish and pot for powder, all of this should be clearly labeled with the brand of liqiud and powder visable to the client.

Tip Top Tips on How to Grow Your Nails Faster and Stronger
TIP TOP TIP #5
This is probably the most important TIP of the day!!
Use a good Cuticle Oil. Skin sebum keeps nails healthy but as we mature, sebum production diminishes. Replace natural sebum with natural plant based oils rich in Vitamin E like Sweet Almond oil, Rice Bran Oil and Avocado Oil or even Olive Oil
Massage your fingertips daily. Increased blood circulation to the nails stimulates faster nail growth. Cuticle Oil is “KING” of all treatments to make nails grow!!
If you are battling to grow your nails try massaging the nails and surrounding skin up to and including the first joint. Do this as often as possible during the day and last thing at night. Don’t believe me, try it!! You can only feed the living nail in order to improve nails, the living nail lies from the cuticle to the first joint.
Massage the oil into the BARE NAIL and surrounding skin for the first three days as often as possible (usually every hour or so) and then do it at least twice a day. Eventually when the nail is correctly moisturised you can apply cuticle oil once a day, before going to sleep at night.
Make sure the cuticle oil is a good quality oil. If you can’t afford to purchase a cuticle oil use Olive Oil to start off your routine.
DO YOU USE CUTICLE OIL EVERY DAY??
