“This boy was carrying his dead brother on his back to bury him In Japan, during the war. A soldier noticed him and asked him to throw away the dead child so that he would not get tired. The boy replied: He's not heavy, that's my brother!" The soldier understood and broke down in tears. Since then, this image has become a symbol of unity in Japan.
Let this be our motto too in 2024:
“He's not heavy. He's my brother...She's my sister!"
If he falls, raise him up.
If he backslides, restore him.
If he gets tired, help him.
If he needs support & stand with him.
If he makes a mistake, correct him.
And if the world abandons him, then carry him like God has been carrying you, He surely is not heavy.
Because he is my brother or she is my sister!
Look out for one another!
Stay Blessed.

About 11 years ago, during my early teaching years, I met a girl in SS2 I’ll never forget.
She was dark-skinned. Smart. Soft-spoken. And strikingly beautiful.
But what stood out most to others—unfortunately—was her body.
Her chest, to be precise.
She had matured faster than her peers, and her brea$t$ had grown fuller than what people her age ‘were expected’ to have.
And because of that, she became a daily target of ridicuI3
They didn’t see her intelligence.
They didn’t hear her voice.
All they saw was her chest.
Her classmates laughed at her in class.
They whispered crude names behind her back and sometimes straight to her face:
“Big Mama.”
“Brea$t$ Milk.”
“Ara Nwaanyi Asaba.”
“Oganigwe.”
“Brea$t$ Kingdom.”
Even some teachers—grown adults who should have protected her—joined in.
They made suggestive jokes. They gave her lingering looks.
Some even called her “distraction” in front of the class.
Day after day, this child sank deeper into herself.
Her head hung lower. Her answers in class became fewer. Her grades started dropping.
She wore sweaters in the heat. She avoided sports. She stopped laughing.
She was shrinking under the weight of a body she never asked for.
She was being punishe$d—for having breasts.
Let that sink in.
A child—was bull!ed, $hamed, and 3exuali$ed—because her body developed early.
She didn’t buy the body. She didn’t ask for it.
But society turned her growth into a cur$e.
And how many more girls are $uffering like this… in silence?
This is more than bully!ng.
This is violence. This is emotional abu$e. This is traum@ that many girls never heal from.
I am writing this because that girl could be your daughter. Your student. Your sister.
I am writing this because we failed her—and we are still failing many more.
Protect the girl child.
Teach boys to respect.
Teach teachers to guide, not to gawk.
Teach schools to be safe—not $hameful.
Because no child should ever cr¥ themselves to sleep… just because of their brea$ts
