Residents of Morata, Wildlife, and Erima in Port Moresby are on high alert following reports of heavy machinery and a police presence along Jeffrey Nape Street, sparking fears that eviction operations could commence at any moment.

Communities have been urged to remain calm but prepared, with families advised to secure important identification, money, and essential documents while staying ready to move quickly if required.

The situation is expected to impact thousands of families, students, and workers living in the affected areas. Community members are also calling on neighbors and relatives to stay informed, support one another, and avoid confrontation as tensions rise.

Authorities have yet to issue an official statement, but residents continue to share alerts widely, emphasizing unity, preparedness, and peaceful response amid growing uncertainty.

Updates on PNGs Eviction around Port Moresby area. The PNG government urgently informs the residents in the highlighted areas to vacate immediately. The Eviction will begin on the 31st of March which is next week Tuesday.

If any residents delays to respond prior the mentioned time, they will be forcefully removed from the areas.

DEFENCE MINISTER UNDER PRESSURE OVER PNGDF RECRUITMENT

Port Moresby: Defence Minister Dr Billy Joseph is again under pressure in Parliament over the recent recruitment exercise into the Papua New Guinea Defence Force (PNGDF).

Morobe Governor and Member for Finschhafen, Hon. Rainbo Paita, raised concerns on the floor of Parliament, questioning the transparency and procedures involved in the latest intake again during the question time this morning.

Governor Paita’s queries reflect growing unease among the public regarding the fairness and integrity of the recruitment process, with increasing calls for accountability and clearer explanations from authorities.

Dr Joseph has maintained that the information he previously presented to Parliament was supplied by his department in good faith.

However, continued questioning from Members of Parliament in the likes of East Sepik Governor Allan Bird and Northern Governor Gary Juffa indicates the issue remains unresolved and continues to attract national attention.
