Pangasinan Medical Society – Western Chapter Leads Health Mission for Mothers and Children
In line with its commitment to maternal and child health, the Pangasinan Medical Society – Western Chapter spearheaded a free prenatal check-up and immunization activity on July 18 at Barangay Magsaysay, Alaminos City.
The outreach was conducted in partnership with the Rotary and Rotaract Club of Hundred Islands and the Barangay Health Workers (BHW), aiming to safeguard the health and well-being of pregnant women and their unborn children. Around 60 patients benefited from the services offered.
This collaborative effort reflects the shared advocacy of medical professionals and civic organizations to deliver community-based health services, especially to underserved sectors of society.

Pangasinan Medical Society-Western Chapter Partners with Landoc Elementary School for Health and Wellness Initiatives
Alaminos City, Pangasinan – In a meaningful step towards promoting health and wellness in schools, the Pangasinan Medical Society – Western Chapter, led by Dr. Marifel Joy Fabia, formally signed a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) with Landoc Elementary School, represented by its principal, Madame Belinda Pamo Rabanillo, on September 11, 2024. The event was witnessed by Dr. Felicidad De Leon, Secretary of the Pangasinan Medical Society (PMS), further emphasizing the significance of this collaboration.
Landoc Elementary School holds the distinction of being the smallest school in Alaminos City, Pangasinan, with only 95 students and 8 teachers, 1 head teacher and 1 utility. Despite its size, the school remains steadfast in its mission to provide quality education and a safe learning environment for its students. With this partnership, the school community will benefit from enhanced medical awareness, health education, and outreach programs, ensuring that students and teachers receive much-needed healthcare support.
During the ceremony, Dr. Fabia highlighted the importance of medical professionals engaging with schools, especially in underserved communities, to foster a culture of health awareness and preventive care. Meanwhile, Madame Rabanillo expressed her gratitude for the initiative, emphasizing how this collaboration will greatly impact the well-being of her students and staff.
Through this MOA, the Pangasinan Medical Society – Western Chapter and Landoc Elementary School are set to implement various health initiatives, including preventive healthcare services, wellness activities, and medical assistance, all geared towards creating a healthier and more resilient school community.

Pangasinan Medical Society and Landoc Elementary School Officers Promote Health and Sustainability Through Gardening Activity
Alaminos City, Pangasinan – With the goal of promoting both environmental care and personal well-being, the Pangasinan Medical Society (PMS) partnered with the class officers of Landoc Elementary School for a gardening activity on January 25, 2025, themed “Halaman at Kalusugan, Magkaugnay sa Kaunlaran.”
Held at Landoc Elementary School, the initiative focused on replanting, cultivating, and cleaning the school garden, reinforcing the vital connection between a clean environment and good health. The participating student leaders from each class, alongside members of PMS, worked together to improve the school’s green spaces, ensuring a more vibrant and refreshing learning environment.
Medical professionals from PMS shared insights on how gardening contributes to cleaner air, stress relief, and better nutrition, encouraging the young leaders to take an active role in maintaining their surroundings. Despite being the smallest school in Alaminos City, with only 95 students and 9 teachers, Landoc Elementary School continues to prove that even small efforts can lead to significant positive change.

Empowered Women, Informed Choices: Raising Cervical Cancer Awareness at Landoc Elementary School

In celebration of women’s empowerment and health advocacy, the Pangasinan Medical Society (PMS) – Western Chapter led an educational seminar on cervical cancer prevention at Landoc Elementary School. With the theme “Empowered Women, Informed Choices: Preventing Cervical Cancer Through Awareness and Action,” the event aimed to equip teachers and Grade 5 and 6 students with vital knowledge on women’s health.
Dr. Marifel Joy Fabia, an esteemed OB-Gynecologist and President of PMS – Western Chapter, served as the keynote speaker. She emphasized the importance of early prevention, vaccination, and regular screening in combating cervical cancer. Gabay sa Kalusugan, Kaagapay ng Kinabukasan

As part of its commitment to promoting health and wellness among young students, the PMS members conducted a medical check-up for 95 students at Landoc Elementary School on January 17, 2025. With the theme "Gabay sa Kalusugan, Kaagapay ng Kinabukasan," the initiative aimed to assess the students’ general health and identify any potential medical concerns.
During the check-up, doctors and medical professionals carefully evaluated the children’s health by checking their vital signs and inquiring about any symptoms or illnesses they might have been experiencing. This basic health screening provided an opportunity to detect early signs of common childhood conditions and ensure that students receive the necessary care and guidance for their well-being.

Scientific Lecture on the Role of GAGs in Arterial and Venous Insufficiency Held in Alaminos City
Alaminos City, Pangasinan – On March 12, 2025, healthcare professionals gathered at the Rustic Crown Hotel Function Hall for a scientific lecture on “The Role of GAGs in Arterial and Venous Insufficiency.”
The event featured Dr. Francis Mislang, IM/Endocrinology, as the keynote speaker, who provided valuable insights into the role of glycosaminoglycans (GAGs) in vascular health. Pangasinan Medical Society Joins LGU-Initiated Talaba Inihaw Festival at Alaminos City Fiesta
Alaminos City, Pangasinan – The Pangasinan Medical Society (PMS) participated in the Talaba Inihaw Festival on March 13 , 2025 at the City Central District, an event initiated by the Local Government Unit (LGU) of Alaminos City as part of the Alaminos City Fiesta celebrations.
The festival, which featured the grilling of fresh oysters (talaba inihaw), brought together various private organizations and NGOs in a shared appreciation of the city’s rich coastal resources. PMS members joined in the festivities, showing their support for local traditions and strengthening community ties.
The Talaba Inihaw Festival remains a key highlight of the Alaminos City Fiesta, celebrating the city’s seafood heritage and fostering camaraderie among different sectors of society.
