Practice makes perfect. ✨🖤

If you knew me years ago, you would probably laugh if I told you I’d be creating art today.

I wasn’t the artistic type. In fact, drawing was one of the things I struggled with the most. During my animation classes in senior high, I constantly felt left behind. While my classmates could bring their ideas to life with just a pencil, I was the one erasing over and over again, hoping my drawing would somehow look better.

There were times I wanted to give up because no matter how much I tried, I just couldn’t draw the way I wanted. I convinced myself that artistry simply wasn’t for me. I believed creativity was a gift that other people were born with—not something I would ever have.

Fast forward to today…

Whenever I have free time, I willingly spend hours painting tiny details on nail tips. I challenge myself with designs I once thought were impossible for me to create. Sometimes they turn out beautifully, sometimes they don’t—but the difference now is that I no longer let failure define me.

Looking at these practice sets, I don’t just see nail art. I see every moment I doubted myself. I see every failed drawing from my animation class. I see the version of me who thought she would never become creative.

And somehow… here I am.

I may not be the best artist in the room, and I still have so much to learn, but I’m proud of how far I’ve come. Because this journey taught me that talent isn’t everything. Consistency, patience, and the willingness to keep practicing can take you places you never imagined.

Funny how life works. The subject I once struggled with the most became one of the biggest reasons I discovered a passion I never knew I had.

To anyone who feels like they’re “not talented enough,” let me be your reminder that your starting point doesn’t determine your destination. You don’t have to be naturally gifted to create something beautiful. You just have to keep showing up, keep practicing, and keep believing that one day, you’ll surprise yourself.

Looking back, I never thought I’d call these tiny nail tips my canvas. But today, every brush stroke reminds me that growth is possible, and sometimes the person who doubts themselves the most ends up creating something they never thought they could.

Maybe I didn’t fail because I wasn’t meant to be an artist. Maybe I failed because I hadn’t found the kind of art that was meant for me. 🖤💅
