Ano ba ang “super flu”?

“Super flu” is a media nickname for a newly identified subclass of influenza A (H3N2) that is causing stronger flu seasons in some countries, but it is still the same type of flu virus we see every year. It spreads through droplets when a sick person coughs, sneezes, or talks, just like ordinary flu.

May super flu na ba sa Pilipinas?

Yes, the DOH confirmed that around 17 cases of this new “super flu” subclass were detected in Metro Manila from July–August 2025, and all patients recovered. As of early January 2026, there is no ongoing local outbreak and the DOH says the situation is “not alarming,” but advises continued caution.

Sintomas na dapat bantayan

- Biglaang lagnat, panginginig, ubo, sipon, pananakit ng katawan, matinding pagod, sore throat.
- Dalhin agad sa ER kung may hirap sa paghinga, mabilis na paghinga, tuloy‑tuloy na mataas na lagnat, matinding panghihina o pagkalito, o ayaw uminom/kumain ang bata.

Paano mag‑iingat ang pamilya

- Magpabakuna laban sa flu, lalo na ang batang may chronic illness, mga buntis, senior citizens, at kasama nila sa bahay.
- Ugaliing maghugas ng kamay, magsuot ng mask kung may ubo at sipon, at manatili sa bahay kapag may lagnat para hindi makahawa sa iba.
- Iwasan ang close contact sa mga taong may malinaw na sintomas ng trangkaso.
- Panatilihing mataas ang resistensiya

Kung may lagnat at ubo ang inyong anak at nag‑aalala kayo sa “super flu,” puwede kayong mag‑pa‑check up sa clinic para ma‑assess nang maaga pinakamalapit na health center o clinic.
