Here's another nail infection that we need to be aware of;
PARONYCHIA
-What Is Paronychia? Paronychia (pahr-uh-NIK-ee-uh) is an infection of the skin around a fingernail or toenail. The infected area can become swollen, red, and painful, and a pus-filled blister (abscess) may form. Most of the time, Paronychia is not serious and can be treated at home.
How can it be prevented?
-Avoid damaging the nails or fingertips. Because the nails grow slowly, an injury can last for months. Do not bite or pick the nails. Protect the nails from exposure to detergents and chemicals by using rubber or plastic gloves.
What diseases can be seen through it?
-Most commonly, infectious Paronychia results from a staph infection. Staphylococcus aureus bacteria cause staph infections. Other bacteria (such as Streptococcus pyogenes) can also cause the infection.
On the good side Paronychia is just a infection and not very harmful for us. It can be treated easily by ointment and other medicines.
