During our health teaching session, we shared something simple but important—preventing Soil-Transmitted Helminths (STH) doesn’t have to be complicated. It really comes down to everyday habits: washing our hands, making sure the kids wear their slippers, and keeping up with safe, regular deworming.

Sometimes, it’s the small things that make the biggest difference. Because when we practice these together, we’re not just caring for our health—we’re helping protect the dreams of every child in the community. 💚

Proper handwashing is one of the simplest yet most effective ways to prevent soil-transmitted helminth infections. By washing our hands with soap and clean water—especially before eating and after using the toilet—we stop harmful worm eggs from entering our bodies.

Let’s build healthy habits early:
👐 Wet hands with clean water
🧼 Apply soap and lather well
🤲 Scrub all surfaces for at least 20 seconds
🚿 Rinse thoroughly
🫧 Dry with a clean towel or air dry

Last 𝖬𝖺𝗋𝖼𝗁 15, 2026, we had the opportunity to conduct a ʜᴇᴀʟᴛʜ ᴛᴇᴀᴄʜɪɴɢ session during 𝖲𝗍𝖺𝗋 𝖢𝖺𝗆𝗉 2026 with the wonderful 𝖲𝗍𝖺𝗋 𝖢𝖺𝗆𝗉 2026 participants at the 𝖦𝖺𝗐𝖺𝖽 𝖪𝖺𝗅𝗂𝗇𝗀𝖺 𝖢𝖾𝗇𝗍𝖾𝗋 – 𝖪𝖺𝗎𝗌𝗐𝖺𝗀𝖺𝗇.

Together with schools, families, and barangay health centers, we are raising awareness and taking action to prevent Soil-Transmitted Helminth (STH) infections and build healthier communities.

STH are intestinal parasites spread through contaminated soil and poor hygiene. Though often unnoticed, they can affect a child’s nutrition, growth, cognitive development, and school performance. Oh-LODS promotes prevention through education, behavior change, and coordinated community action.
