An Open Letter to Mayor Rose Rizal

Dear Dugong Bayani - Mayor Ross Rizal

I am writing to express my concern regarding the recent cancellation of the basketball league in our community due to energy saving measures.

While I understand and respect the importance of conserving energy, I hope you will also consider the impact this decision has on the youth. For many young people in our area, basketball is more than just a sport it is their primary source of recreation, a way to stay active, and a positive outlet that keeps them away from harmful influences.

The basketball league has long served as a safe space where the youth can build friendships, develop discipline, and foster teamwork. With its cancellation, many are left without a meaningful activity to occupy their time, which may lead to unintended consequences.

I respectfully ask your office to reconsider this decision or explore alternative solutions. Perhaps games could be scheduled during daylight hours, or other energy efficient measures could be implemented without completely removing this important community activity.

We believe that with careful planning, it is possible to balance energy conservation with the well being of the youth.

Thank you for your time and consideration. We remain hopeful for a solution that supports both sustainability and the needs of our community.
