PNP JOINS GLOBAL TRIBUTE IN NATIONAL ROLLOUT OF β€œREMEMBERING FALLEN OFFICERS” CAMPAIGN

The Philippine National Police has strengthened its commitment to honoring heroes in uniform as it actively participates in the Phase 3 National Rollout of the β€œRemembering Fallen Officers” (RFO) Awareness Campaign, a global initiative spearheaded by INTERPOL under Project VANGUARD B. Set to run from 7 January to 7 March 2026, the campaign seeks to commemorate officers who have sacrificed their lives in the line of duty while fostering global solidarity among law enforcement agencies.

Under the guidance of PNP Acting Chief, Police Lieutenant General Jose Melencio C. Nartatez Jr., the PNP is integrating the campaign into key activities across its offices, particularly through the Directorate for Police Community Relations (DPCR), Police Community Affairs and Development Group (PCADG), and the Public Information Office (PIO). Through storytelling, tribute videos, community engagement, and interactive social media initiatives, the campaign brings to light the human side of policingβ€”the β€œfaces behind the badge”—and encourages Filipinos to reflect on the sacrifices of law enforcement officers.

β€œEvery officer who gave their life in service leaves a legacy that reminds us what it truly means to serve,” said PLTGEN Jose Melencio C. Nartatez Jr. β€œTheir courage sets a standard for all of us, and it is our responsibility to honor their memory by continuing the mission with dedication and integrity.

The campaign follows the successful completion of Phase 1 (Laying the Foundations) and Phase 2 (Building National Campaigns), which included global coordination, visual identity development, and stakeholder engagement. Phase 3 marks the nationwide rollout, encouraging all PNP units to hold tribute ceremonies, share personal officer stories, conduct school and community outreach, and engage the public through digital platforms. The campaign will culminate globally on 7 March 2026, the International Day of Remembrance for Fallen Officers, with ceremonies including the Blue Light Salute, moments of silence, and public participation to honor police officers worldwide.

Highlighting the PNP’s Focus Agenda, Phase 3 particularly underscores Active Community Support, reflecting the organization’s dedication to building trust and stronger connections with communities across the Philippines while honoring those who have served with valor.

β€œThrough this campaign, we are not just remembering fallen heroes; we are also strengthening the bond between the PNP and the communities we protect,” PLTGEN Nartatez said.

As the PNP commemorates its fallen heroes and engages in this global initiative under the directive of President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr., the organization assures the public of its continued vision: PNP’s β€œBagong PNP para sa Bagong Pilipinas: Serbisyong mabilis, tapat, at nararamdaman.”

PNP CHIEF WARNS: β€œPULL THE TRIGGER, LOSE THE BADGE” AS ONE-STRIKE POLICY TAKES EFFECT

MANILA β€” The Philippine National Police has reiterated a strict One-Strike Policy against indiscriminate firing as part of heightened security measures for the holiday season and the approach of New Year 2026.

In a firm warning, Jose Melencio C. Nartatez Jr., Acting Chief of the PNP, stressed that any police personnel caught engaging in reckless or celebratory gunfire will face immediate dismissal and criminal charges, with no warnings and no second chances.

β€œPull the trigger, lose the badge,” the PNP chief declared, underscoring that indiscriminate firing is a grave violation of duty and a direct threat to public safety during a time meant for peace and celebration.

Under the policy, erring personnel will be immediately relieved from duty and placed under preventive suspension pending investigation. Administrative sanctions and criminal liability will be imposed in accordance with existing laws.

The PNP leadership also emphasized absolute command responsibility, directing all unit commanders to ensure strict discipline within their ranks. Failure to act decisively against violators will result in accountability at every level of command.

As Filipinos prepare to welcome the New Year, the PNP called on its personnel to set the example of responsibility, restraint, and professionalism, reaffirming its commitment to public safety and trust.

The directive aligns with the PNP’s vision of Bagong PNP para sa Bagong Pilipinas β€” Serbisyong Mabilis, Tapat, at Nararamdaman, ensuring that communities across the country can celebrate without fear.
