Perfume Terminology: Accords 🌸

Imagine a Halo-Halo with its diverse ingredients—ice cream, leche flan, ube, gatas, nata de coco, and more. When you mix everything together, the distinct flavors blend into something unique and satisfying, quenching your cravings with a new, combined taste that you can't easily break down into its original parts.

This concept helps explain the perfume terminology "Accord".

An Accord is the harmonious blend of natural and synthetic materials, combined to create a particular scent or effect. Each ingredient in a perfume has its own unique characteristics.

For example:

Vanillin: sweet, dry vanilla with creamy, chocolatey aromas.
Ethyl Maltol: smells like sweet, burnt sugar.

When mixed together in the right proportions, Vanillin and Ethyl Maltol form a new scent—similar to candy floss/cotton candy.
This new scent is called a Candy Floss Accord, and at this point, it's difficult to separate the individual smells of the original ingredients.

Perfume creation involves combining multiple accords, sometimes with 10–20 different ingredients, and undergoing hundreds of trials. Only the most refined results get released to the market.

And that’s the art and science of creating perfumes—just like crafting a perfect Halo-Halo! 🍧
