This temporary road closure is aimed at ensuring safety of all motorists and pedestrians. Your consideration and understanding are highly appreciated, in line with the transportation infrastructure project of the Cebu City Government and the DOTr.

EMERGENCY ROAD CLOSURE
for the FUENTE SKYWALK REMOVAL.

Due to the presence of concrete cracks and falling debris from the Fuente Skywalk while the contractor was doing the removal of roofings and railings, earlier this morning, the RMA will be TEMPORARILY CLOSING a portion of the OSMEÑA BLVD, from Fuente Osmeña Circle until the intersection of Arlington Pond Street.

For ALL MOTORISTS going to DOWNTOWN (Colon):
from OSMEÑA BOULEVARD & B. RODRIGUEZ STREET;
take F. RAMOS STREET;
(for those going to Jones)TURN RIGHT to ARLINGTON POND ST; and TURN LEFT to OSMEÑA BOULEVARD (formerly Jones Ave.)
or
(for those going to Colon) PROCEED to JUNQUERA STREET.

For ALL MOTORISTS going to UPTOWN (Capitol & B. Rodriguez):
from OSMEÑA BOULEVARD;
TURN RIGHT to ARLINGTON POND STREET;
TURN LEFT to F. RAMOS STREET;
and TURN RIGHT to OSMEÑA BOULEVARD.

The RMA is asking for the public's understanding and patience of the emergency closure for purposes of public safety.

In the meantime, please consider taking alternative routes to avoid the traffic congestion in F. Ramos and Arlington Pond Streets. However, if needed to take these roads, please travel ahead of time (one hour before schedule) to lessen the burden brought about by the emergency closure.

Traffic flow has returned to the normal scheme from Archbishop Reyes Avenue to Banilad and Talamban vice versa, including the flyovers, as of 3:35 p.m. on Saturday, December 23, 2023, the Cebu City Transportation Office said.

The Barangay Zapatera Council was declared in session by Barangay Captain Francisco Benedicto. Attending the special session yesterday were Cebu City Administrator Floro Casas Jr. and DILG-7 Local Government Monitoring and Evaluation Division Chief Atty. Ian Kenneth B. Lucero. The Zapatera Council on their special session approved on motion a resolution authorizing the Punong Barangay to be the LGU's duly authorized representative on behalf of the barangay for Land Bank of the Philippines transaction.
On another note, the council also approved an ordinance creating a supplemental budget for the 1M pesos Cebu City Financial Assistance to Barangay Zapatera residents. In his speech, City Administrator Floro Casas Jr. was delighted to witness that it is possible for the barangay council not to like each other but to practice professionalism, respect, and work hand in hand for the residents' good. He will be happy to relay this good news to Mayor Edgar Labella. He assured the council that if this continues smoothly, there will be more help coming from Cebu City for the residents. He will also look into how the City can release the financial Counterpart to deserving barangay workers.
On the other hand, Atty. Ian Kenneth B. Lucero said that this is the first of the many steps DILG will take to work hand-in-hand and monitor Barangay officials' progress.
In ending, Punong Barangay Benedicto told DILG that he would hold office in the Barangay to sign for documents and continue with the Barangay Satellite Office to handle the daily surge of LSI's who are processing travel clearances, in adherence to the IATF protocols of social and physical distancing. Hon. Benedicto finally assured everyone that he would observe political neutrality, and no trouble will be initiated from his end.
