Oreo and Scarlet

This photo was taken back in 2019. I still vividly remember seeing this Nanay sitting beside the road near the Basilica Minore del Santo Niño de Cebu. I was on my way to light a candle in church and when I noticed her. She couldn’t walk (something wrong sa iya leg ) and was just sitting quietly kauban iyang apo.

Something about her presence touched my heart. I didn’t have much with me at the time, but I gave her what little I could and also bought her some groceries. It wasn’t much, but I hoped it brought her a bit of comfort, even just for the day.

Moments like these stay with you. They remind you to be grateful, to be kind, and to never take anything for granted. I still wonder how she’s doing now, and I pray life has been kinder to her since then.☺️
