ASHFALL ADVISORY

Date: July 9, 2026

Following the recent eruption of Kanlaon Volcano, very light volcanic ash or fine airborne particles may be observed in some areas depending on prevailing wind conditions. While the heaviest ashfall remains in communities near the volcano in Negros, residents are advised to remain vigilant and take the following precautions if ashfall is experienced.

Safety Measures:

Wear a face mask (preferably an N95 mask) when going outdoors.
Keep doors and windows closed to prevent ash from entering homes.
Avoid unnecessary outdoor activities, especially for children, senior citizens, pregnant women, and individuals with respiratory illnesses.
Cover water containers and food to prevent contamination.
Avoid sweeping dry ash. Lightly wet the ash before cleaning to minimize dust.
Exercise caution while driving, as ashfall may reduce visibility and make roads slippery.

Residents are encouraged to stay updated through official advisories from Department of Science and Technology – Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology, the Local Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (LDRRMO), and local government authorities for the latest information and safety instructions.
