"IS THE GOVERNMENT PRIORITIZING IMPEACHMENT OVER THE ECONOMIC CRISIS?
The numbers are in. They are devastating.
๐ GDP growth: 2.8% โ collapsed from 5.4% a year ago, missed the 3.4% consensus, and the third straight year of missing the governmentโs own 5โ6% target.
๐ Inflation: 7.2% โ a three-year high. Nearly 4x end-2025 levels. BSP admits it wonโt return to normal until 2028.
๐ต Peso: โฑ61.62/$1 โ a historic record low. Second-worst performing currency in Asia this year.
โฝ Fuel: another hike this week โ gasoline up โฑ2.21/L, diesel up โฑ2.66/L. The brief reprieve is over.
So we have to ask: is this government prioritizing impeachment over the economic crisis?
Look at the evidence.
The Senate resumed session on May 4 with the impeachment trial of Vice President Sara Duterte declared its โtop priority.โ
The House Justice Committee has already moved the case to the plenary.
The capitalโs political class is consumed โ consumed โ by a proceeding that will deliver no rice, no fuel, no jobs, no stronger peso.
Meanwhile:
โ No fiscal stimulus plan
โ No peso defense framework
โ No targeted subsidy for transport workers crushed by fuel costs
โ No acceleration of public spending to offset Q1 underspending
โ No credible roadmap to bring inflation back to the 4% ceiling before 2028
What there is, in abundance, is impeachment.
Even economists are saying it now. the political turmoil is creating tangible long-term consequences for the economy, and is โdirectly impeding effective governance and delaying key structural economic reforms.โ
The flood control scandal froze public spending. The corruption controversy gutted construction. The impeachment war is now consuming the legislative bandwidth that should be passing reforms. The Middle East shock found a government with no plan, no buffer, and no unity.
This is not just an external crisis.
This is a self-inflicted wound.
The Filipino people did not vote for โฑ70 gasoline.
They did not vote for groceries that climb every week.
They did not vote for a peso in free fall.
They did not vote for a government that answers a generational economic crisis with a political vendetta.
Tama na ang circus.. Trabaho na ang ekonomiya.
So we ask again โ and the Filipino people deserve an answer:
Is this government prioritizing impeachment over the economic crisis?
The numbers say yes. The Senate calendar says yes. The silence on every economic front says yes.

CARRY EACH OTHER. Green United (GU) and Sara Pag-asa ng Masa (SPM) recently concluded their strength-sharing exploratory talks on collaborative grassroots engagement.
Sara Pag-asa ng Masa, a network of leaders from different volunteer organizations, was organized and re-engineered to withstand and rise above the challenges and dynamics of ground campaigning and, subsequently, contribute to ensuring Inday Sara Duterte will prevail in the 2028 presidential election.
โWe put so much weight on the people as agents of change. This is why we never hesitate to share a guiding light with each other if only to build a stronger, consolidated, and more impactful ground movement," Ramon "Kap Abay" Bargamento, GU Secretary General, said during the meeting.
This second of a series of focus group discussions between both groups ended on a high note with both agreeing to closely work together to revitalize ground efforts.

REFINE and ENGAGE. Metro ManilaโA bit of org diagnosis was initiated for various volunteer groups like Sectoral Solidarity for Sara (SSS) and Green Solidarity Overseas (Green Overseas) and other NCR-based parallels to address gaps and optimize reach within their target sectors and areas.
Green United is always open for convergence with support groups โeager to refineโ its approaches and eventually make a mark.
Let us carry each other and help make Inday Sara Duterte victorious!
