The Sociology Students’ Society held its first General Assembly Meeting for the semester, bringing Sosyals’ together for a meaningful afternoon of transparency, dialogue, and collective participation.

The program started with a warm message and words of advice from Ma’am Novie Baretto, inspiring everyone to begin the semester with unity, purpose, and a renewed commitment to the Sociology community.

The General Assembly serves as a space to present important updates, raise concerns, and share manifestations that will help guide the organization throughout the semester. More than just a meeting, it is an opportunity for every voice to be heard and every concern to be acknowledged.

As we begin another semester, may we continue to listen, speak up, and stand together as one Sociology community.

The office of the President released the memorandum No. 002, s. 2026 mandating the student to actively participate in the upcoming General Assembly on September 4, 2026 to discuss and scrutinize all reports and projects of the council.

Moreover, the Office of Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs released its Memorandum no. 085-26, excusing all students from their class but are not exempted with the quizzes and other requirements.

As Su***de Prevention Month takes place, we keep in mind that sometimes the first step toward hope is realizing that we are not alone in facing hardships in our lives.

And you don't have to face what's beyond the door or climb the stairs alone when it seems like they go on forever.

Because despite the struggles right now, your life holds such great value to experience the beauty of living it to the fullest.

Days can feel endless and it might feel blurry at times. But you will never be someone not worth fighting for. And as you pave your way through life and when the month has passed, you will always matter.

Because oftentimes, however cliché it might be, the darkest paths lead towards a bright light at the end of it.

And the light doesn’t even need to stop once it was met. Because to be able to carry it towards tomorrow makes it all the while worth it. And you don’t have to tread the path or carry the light with you alone. You have your friends, family, comrades, pets, and significant others to come along to the ride and support you.

The story wasn’t about you going to a particular destination. It was all about the journey itself that makes it worthwhile.

And nothing is much more worthwhile than a life that has lived through it and will continue to do so as it unfolds.

Cry if you have to, pause if you have to.

If the door feels too heavy to open, let someone open it for you.

And if the stairs feel too scary to move on, let someone be there with you.

Remember: there will always be many doors to open up for you, and stairs to continue climbing forward. When it feels tiring, take a break. But never let it be the denouement of your book.

Because beyond those doors, there still lies such greater meanings to live upon. And beautiful chapters waiting to be written with you in it.

When one door closes, another one opens. Continue to be here with us as we stride together toward roads yet taken. And allow yourself to become the door that remains open. For you.

Ngayong Araw ng mga Pambansang Bayani, ginugunita natin ang mga taong nag-alay ng kanilang buhay para sa bayan—mga taong ipinagtanggol ang bansa hanggang sa kanilang huling hininga. Sila ang mga nauna sa atin, ngunit ang kanilang diwa ay hindi naiwan sa nakaraan.

Sa panibagong panahon at sa panibagong anyo ng lipunan, patuloy na nabubuhay ang kanilang tapang sa mga kamay ng ating mga rescuer na unang tumutugon sa sakuna, sa mga manggagawang pangkalusugan na patuloy na naglilingkod, sa mga magsasakang nagsisiguro ng ating pagkain, at sa bawat taong pinipiling tumulong kahit walang nakakakita. Maaaring nagbago ang panahon, ang kasuotan, at ang paraan ng paglilingkod, ngunit nananatili ang diwang handang magsakripisyo para sa kapwa at bayan.
