In compliance to Executive Order 51 or The Milk Code and its Revised Implementing Rules and Regulations, donations of breastmilk substitutes including infant formula, powdered milk and other milk; feeding bottles, teats and commercial baby food are not allowed and that these should not be part of general distribution of emergency food packs. In times of disasters and emergencies, artificial feeding using milks other than breast milk is not safe due to lack of supply of clean water, fuel for sterilization and boiling, utensils, among others.

DOH Administrative Order (AO) 2006-0014 or the โ€œNational Policies on Infant and Young Childrenโ€ indicates that in times of crisis, breastfeeding is the first and best feeding option for infants and young children and that mothers and babies should remain together and provided with support to be able to feed appropriately even under difficult circumstances. Likewise, DOH AO 2007-0017, โ€œGuidelines on the Acceptance and Processing of Foreign and Local Donations during Emergency and Disaster Situationsโ€, states that โ€œInfant formula, breastmilk substitutes, feeding bottles, artificial ni***es, and teats shall not be items for donation."

No acceptance of donation shall be issued for any of the enumerated items. Breastfeeding and continued breastfeeding should be promoted, protected and supported but most especially during disasters and emergencies.

As a general rule, the DOH prescribes the feeding options for infants and young children in difficult circumstance:

(1) breastfeeding is the first and best option for infants,
(2) expressed breastmilk, fed by cup;
(3) breastfeeding from healthy wet nurse; and
(4) human milk from milk bank, fed by cup.

Should these options become unavailable, the last option is to feed by cup infant formula (unlabeled) which should be only under the supervision of health and nutrition workers and prepared.

Violations should be reported to the local health office or at http://www.mbfp.doh.

Ang 10 Kumainments ay isang kampanya na isinusulong ng National Nutrition Council na naglalayong itaguyod ang tamang nutrisyon at malusog na pamumuhay ng bawat Pilipino. Sa pamamagitan ng pangalan na inihango sa โ€œ10 Commandmentsโ€, inilalahad nito ang ilang mga simpleng paalala para sa mas malusog at masustansiyang pamumuhay, sa paraan na madaling tandaan at sundin sa araw-araw.

Alam niyo ba na ang gatas ng ina ay may sapat na pagkain at tubig na kinakailangan ng sanggol sa kaniyang unang anim (6) na buwan?

Kung kayaโ€™t ayon sa ๐Š๐ฎ๐ฆ๐š๐ข๐ง๐ฆ๐ž๐ง๐ญ #๐Ÿ, pinapaalalahanan tayo nito na huwag magbibigay ng anumang pagkain, maging tubig o ibang uri ng inumin sa unang anim (6) na buwan ng sanggol dahil ang gatas ng ina ay ligtas, malinis, at sapat na para mapunan ang kaniyang gutom at pagkauhaw. Ang eksklusibong pagpapasuso rin sa loob ng unang 6 na buwan ay ang pinakamahusay na paraan para masiguro ang maayos na paglaki ng sanggol. Nagbibigay din ito ng proteksiyon laban sa mga sakit, tulad ng pagtatae at impeksyon na gaya ng ubo, sipon, o pulmonya.

Mula anim na buwan naman, kailangan na ng sanggol ng iba pang mga pagkain maliban sa gatas ng ina. Maaaring magsimula sa pagpapakain ng lugaw at sa kalaunan ay subukan ang ibaโ€™t ibang uri ng pagkain gaya ng mga: (1) butil at rootcrops gaya ng bigas, mais, patatas at carrots, (2) prutas at gulay na mayaman sa bitamina, (3) karne, isda, manok, at itlog, at (4) butong gulay na gaya ng sitaw, bataw, mani, at patani.

Sinusuportahan din po ito ng Republic Act No. 11037 (Masustansyang Pagkain para sa Batang Pilipino Act) na naglalayong palakasin ang nutrition programs para sa mga bata.

Dahil po dito, ang taunang pagtitimbang at pagsusukat ng mga batang 0โ€“59 months ay bahagi ng pambansang hakbang upang maagapan ang undernutrition at maprotektahan ang kalusugan ng bawat batang Pilipino.

In the Philippines, February is designated as Heart Month by the virtue of Proclamation No. 1096, series of 1973. This month-long nationwide campaign aims to raise awareness about heart health, promote healthier lifestyle, and highlight the importance of early detection, prevention and management of cardiovascular diseases (CVDs).

โœค Ischaemic heart disease accounts for 19% of total deaths nationwide.
โœค 37% of adults have high blood pressure, yet only half are aware, and just 37% have it under control.

ใ€ฐ๏ธ Privacy: May kurtina o pinto na pwedeng i-lock para siguradong private ang pag-pump.
