Sa mga care assistants/nurses dito sa UK, ano maadvice nyo sa pagpick-up ng extra shift?

There was a time when I questioned whether I could ever build the career I dreamed of while raising my children here in the UK.
As an immigrant parent, every opportunity comes with a difficult decision. Every new job means thinking about school runs, childcare, holidays, and whether my daughters will be okay while I’m at work. There were opportunities I had to let go—not because I wasn’t capable, but because being their mom has always come first.
Today, I’m grateful to have found a job that has given our family a sense of financial stability while still allowing me to manage most of my girls’ schedules. It’s not perfect, and there are still days when work and motherhood collide. There are moments when I have no choice but to ask my real friends for help to look after my daughters, and I don’t take that kindness for granted.
To those who have been there without hesitation, who adjusted their own time, opened their homes, watched over my girls, or simply reassured me that everything would be okay—thank you. You may not realize it, but you’ve helped carry a weight that sometimes felt too heavy for me to carry alone. Your kindness has allowed me to keep moving forward without compromising what matters most.
And to my precious daughters, I hope that one day you’ll understand why Mommy works so hard. Every long shift, every sacrifice, every difficult decision is made with you in my heart. You are the reason I keep going, even on the days when I’m exhausted. My career can wait, opportunities will always come and go, but your childhood is something I can never get back.
I may not always be able to give you everything you want, but I promise to spend my life giving you everything I can. I hope you grow up knowing that you were never a burden to my dreams—you became my greatest dream.
One day, when you look back, I hope you won’t remember the days Mommy had to work. I hope you’ll remember how deeply you were loved.
To every parent silently juggling work, childcare, and endless responsibilities—you are doing better than you think. Keep going. Our sacrifices today are building the future our children deserve. ❤️

A well-spent day off with the people who matter most. ❤️ Family time is the best time.
Sometimes, life surprises you in the best way.
I never imagined I’d be doing this job, yet here I am—earning the salary I once only dreamed of.
It’s a reminder that your dream doesn’t always arrive in the package you expect. Sometimes, the opportunity you almost overlook becomes the one that changes your life.
Don’t be afraid to step outside your comfort zone. Stay open, work hard, and trust the process. You never know where your next opportunity will take you.
It’s not an easy job. There are days when I’m physically exhausted, mentally drained, and challenged in ways I never expected. Every single day is different—you never really know what the day will bring.
To anyone still waiting for their breakthrough: keep going.
✨ Trust the journey. Stay humble. Keep showing up.

Today, I had the chance to attend the Barrio Fiesta in Glasgow, and I can honestly say it was a successful event overall! 🇵🇭🎉
First of all, congratulations to all the organizers, volunteers, sponsors, performers, and everyone who worked hard to make this event happen. Organizing a festival like this is no easy task, and your efforts are truly appreciated.
One of the highlights for me was the food. If you’re craving Filipino cuisine, you definitely wouldn’t have any problems because there was so much to choose from. Name your favorite Filipino dish, and chances are it was there! It was such a treat to enjoy authentic Filipino food again.
The weather, on the other hand, gave us a true Scottish experience. 😂 We had rain, sunshine, cold winds, cloudy skies, and everything in between—all in one day!
The atmosphere at the beginning was amazing. It was wonderful to see so many Filipinos gathered together, meeting new kababayans, catching up with friends, and celebrating our culture.
We arrived early and managed to secure a great spot right in front of the stage. Unfortunately, when the guest performers came out, the crowd became difficult to manage. Many people started standing directly in front of those who had been seated, blocking the view. It was disappointing because the seating arrangement that had been announced earlier was no longer enforced.
There was also a moment during Kai’s performance when an organizer and an attendee got into a heated argument. I don’t know exactly what happened, but from what I understood, the attendee was concerned that people wearing “AAA” IDs had been allowed to sit in front of them. The organizer explained that those individuals were part of the team, but the conversation escalated, and both sides exchanged unpleasant words. Thankfully, other organizers stepped in and quickly calmed the situation.
I understand that managing such a large crowd is challenging, and no event is ever perfect. Hopefully, next year’s Barrio Fiesta can have even better crowd control so everyone can enjoy the performances comfortably.
Despite that, I still had a great time. It was heartwarming to celebrate Filipino culture, reconnect with our community, meet new people, and enjoy a little taste of home here in Scotland.
Congratulations once again to everyone who made this event possible. Looking forward to the next Barrio Fiesta! ❤️🇵🇭
