HAPPY BIRTHDAY, MAMA MARY! 💐✨💖
Today the Church celebrates the Feast of the Nativity of the Mother of our Savior, the Blessed Virgin Mary - the "most blessed" of God’s creatures, conceived and born immaculate and full of grace.

The Roman Martyrology proclaims that Mary was “of the lineage of Abraham, born of the tribe of Judah and of the progeny of King David, from whom the Son of God was born, made man by the work of the Holy Spirit, to free humanity from the ancient bo***ge of sin.”

Mary was born to be the Mother of Jesus Christ, the spiritual mother of all humanity, and the Queen of heaven and earth. Through her, all grace is given to men: unbelievers receive the gift of faith, the afflicted are consoled by mercy, and the members of Christ grow in likeness to their Head. In Mary, human nature is exalted and redeemed.

This feast originated in Jerusalem in the sixth century, linked to the dedication of the Church of Saint Anne, built on the site traditionally believed to be Mary’s birthplace. By the seventh century, Rome observed this feast, which later helped determine the date of the Immaculate Conception. Alongside the birthdays of her Son, Jesus, and of Saint John the Baptist, Mary’s nativity is celebrated as a moment of joy in salvation history.

COLLECT
Bestow on your servants, Lord, this gift of grace,
that we whose salvation took its beginning
in the birth of your Son from the Virgin Mary
may find in this celebration of her nativity
an increase in the gift of your peace.
Through our Lord Jesus Christ, your Son,
who lives and reigns with you in the unity of the Holy Spirit,
God, for ever and ever. Amen.
