World Cancer Day: My Years in Oncology: What Changed, What Didn’t, and What Gives Me Hope!

Two decades of innovations, brands strategies, launches, clinical discussions, market shaping, access debates, doctor meetings, patient advocacy conversations, and above all lessons in hope and humility.

In Oncology, we obsess over endpoints: Overall Survival (OS), Progression-Free Survival (PFS), Response rates, Remission Rates, Durability of response.

I was once asked : “Why does just a 6-month survival improvement really matter?” That’s when I remembered what a patient told me - It matters because it is time - one more life milestone, one more memory, one more chance. These months have now turned to years with rapid advancements in treatments

On this milestone, as I reflect on what oncology has taught me as a leader:
✔️Hope must be science-driven and optimism must be backed with evidence.
✔️Speed matters in cancer care, delays cost outcomes. Ex*****on is not optional, every delayed supply costs lives.
✔️Access must be built, not wished for: Tiered Pricing, Access programs, affordability models, Policy, partnerships, value narratives.

To everyone in the cancer ecosystem : Oncologists, doctors, nurses, caregivers, diagnostics partners, patient advocates, NGOs, and policymakers, companies : Thank you for all that you do! I am hopeful with all our efforts it will take us closer to a day when we can truly see : Progress = Access!
