Pasay City — The PNP Aviation Security Group (AVSEGROUP), in close coordination with the Bureau of Immigration (BI) and the San Fernando City Police Station (SFC PS), La Union Police Provincial Office (LU PPO), successfully arrested a wanted individual at the International Arrival Area of Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) Terminal 3 on September 1, 2026.

The accused, a 41-year-old Filipino female, single, and an Overseas Filipino Worker (OFW), was intercepted by BI personnel upon arrival from Dubai after verification revealed an outstanding Warrant of Arrest issued by the Regional Trial Court, San Fernando City, La Union, dated November 20, 2014, for two counts of Qualified Theft, with a total recommended bail of Php98,000.00.

The joint police operation was subsequently conducted, resulting in the arrest of the accused. She was informed of the nature of her arrest and apprised of her constitutional rights under the Miranda Doctrine in a language known and understood by her. An Alternative Recording Device (ARD) was likewise utilized during the conduct of the arrest to ensure transparency and accountability.

The accused is now under the custody of the San Fernando City Police Station, La Union, for documentation and proper legal disposition.

Pasay City — Suspected Ma*****na Kush worth approximately ₱141.8 million was recovered from eight unclaimed luggage items at the Customs Secondary Inspection Area of the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) Terminal 3 on September 1, 2026.

Acting on information from PDEA regarding the interception, joint members of the NAIA-IADITG proceeded to the Customs Secondary Inspection Area for verification and examination of the unclaimed luggage.

Initially left behind at the baggage conveyor and later secured in the interline baggage room, the luggage drew closer scrutiny after being linked to three arriving passengers from Bangkok, Thailand. A subsequent X-ray re-screening by Bureau of Customs (BOC) revealed a suspicious image inside the luggage prompted further examination by authorities.

PDEA K-9 personnel conducted a paneling operation, during which a narcotics detection dog gave a positive indication for the presence of illegal drugs. Manual inspection by Bureau of Customs personnel then led to the recovery of the suspected Ma*****na Kush concealed inside the luggage.

Recovered from the eight luggage items were approximately 94, 561 grams of dried leaves suspected to be Ma*****na Kush, with a Standard Drug Price of PhP141,841,500.00.

Seized illegal drugs will be brought by members of NAIA-IADITG to PDEA National Office, NIA Northside Rd., Diliman, Quezon City for proper disposition.

CTG WAR MATERIALS RECOVERED; GUNS, AMMUNITION AND RIFLE GRENADES UNEARTHED IN CAGAYAN

The Philippine National Police, under the command of PNP Chief PGEN Jose Melencio C. Nartatez Jr., has strengthened security efforts in Cagayan following the recovery of fi****ms, ammunition, rifle grenades, communication equipment, and other war materials believed to be owned by the Communist Terrorist Group (CTG) during an operation in the mountainous portion of Barangay Niug Norte, Sto. Niño, Cagayan on August 31, 2026.

Leading the operation was the 202nd Maneuver Company, Regional Mobile Force Battalion 2, with support from the 4th Maneuver Platoon of the 1st Cagayan Provincial Mobile Force Company, Regional Intelligence Unit 2, Sto. Niño Police Station, and Bravo Company, 17th Infantry Battalion, 5th Infantry Division, Philippine Army.

Operating personnel discovered the cache at Sitio Talor, where the war materials had been buried underground and concealed inside a black plastic bag. Recovered were two homemade 12-gauge shotguns, 85 rounds of 5.56mm ammunition, 32 rounds of 7.62mm ammunition, four rifle grenades with canisters, four rounds of 7.62x33mm carbine ammunition, three rounds of 12-gauge ammunition, and magazines for 5.56mm and 7.62mm fi****ms.

Also recovered were two handheld radios, a black skeleton bandolier, a brown tactical belt, an improvised engine-generator set, a Samsung 10,000mAh power bank, chargers and electrical wires, a tickler containing subversive documents, an earphone, batteries, and a cellphone charger.

The location of the cache was identified through information provided by a surrendered CTG member using the alias “Ronron.” The information was subjected to validation by operating personnel before the recovery operation was carried out.

The recovered rifle grenades and other explosive items will be turned over to the Regional EOD and Canine Unit 2 for appropriate handling, while the two homemade shotguns will be submitted to the Regional Forensic Unit 2 for examination. The remaining items were brought to the 202nd MC, RMFB2 for final inventory and proper disposition.

The recovery highlights the value of intelligence-driven police operations and the close partnership between the PNP and the Philippine Army in preventing armed groups from regaining access to fi****ms, ammunition, and other operational resources.

PNP MOURNS FALLEN BROTHER IN UNIFORM, HONORS HIS SERVICE AND SACRIFICE

The Philippine National Police (PNP) mourns the passing of Police Staff Sergeant Von Rico Binaño Macuha, 32, who sustained a gunshot wound while performing police duties during a follow-up operation in Batangas on August 30, 2026.

PSSg Macuha was part of a team from the Sta. Teresita Municipal Police Station conducting a follow-up operation in Barangay Sampaga, Balayan, Batangas, in connection with a previously foiled robbery incident. At around 4:29 p.m., an exchange of gunfire reportedly took place in the vicinity of the Calaca River, during which PSSg Macuha sustained a gunshot wound to the head.

He was promptly brought to a medical facility for emergency treatment but later passed away from his injuries.

Police units from Balayan, Calaca, and Sta. Teresita immediately coordinated follow-up operations to locate the suspect identified in the initial report in connection with the incident.

On August 31, personnel of the Nasugbu Municipal Police Station and the 2nd Batangas Provincial Mobile Force Company located the 27-year-old male suspect in Sitio Calo, Barangay Kaylaway, Nasugbu, Batangas. According to the initial report, an armed encounter occurred during the ensuing police operation, during which the suspect sustained a gunshot wound.

The suspect was subsequently apprehended and brought to a medical facility for appropriate medical attention but was later pronounced dead. A motorcycle and a caliber .38 firearm were also recovered during the operation. The circumstances surrounding the incident and the suspect’s death remain subject to appropriate investigation.

Chief, PNP Police General Jose Melencio C. Nartatez Jr. conveyed his condolences to the family, colleagues, and loved ones of PSSg Macuha, recognizing the commitment he demonstrated in carrying out his responsibility as a police officer.

“Losing one of our own is never easy, especially for the family who is waiting for him to come home. PSSg Macuha was doing his duty when this happened. We will remember his service, support his family, and make sure that his sacrifice continues to mean something to the communities we serve,” Police General Nartatez said.

The Chief PNP assured the bereaved family of the PNP’s continued assistance and support, while emphasizing that the circumstances surrounding the incident will be properly established through the ongoing investigation.

P21.5-M SMUGGLED CI******ES SEIZED, 7 ARRESTED IN MINDANAO OPS

The Philippine National Police (PNP) strengthened its enforcement efforts against the movement of smuggled goods after separate operations in Mindanao led to the recovery of more than P21.5 million worth of smuggled ci******es and the arrest of seven individuals from September 1 to the early hours of September 2.

In Parang, Maguindanao del Norte, police personnel intercepted a vehicle at a checkpoint at around 11:40 AM on September 1, resulting in the recovery of 250 master cases of smuggled ci******es with an estimated market value of P14 million. Two Filipino men, aged 39 and 32, were arrested in the operation.

Later that day, police in Iligan City conducted a checkpoint operation that resulted in the recovery of 2,082 reams of smuggled ci******es valued at approximately P1.67 million. Four Filipino men, aged 20 to 37, were arrested, while two vans believed to have been used to transport the shipment were secured.

In a separate operation in Opol, Misamis Oriental, at around 2:00 AM on September 2, police intercepted a 28-year-old Filipino man and recovered 117 master cases of smuggled ci******es worth approximately P5.85 million.

The seized cigarette products were turned over to the Bureau of Customs (BOC) for proper documentation, safekeeping, and disposition. The persons arrested were subjected to appropriate procedures pending the outcome of the proceedings.

PNP Chief Police General Jose Melencio C. Nartatez Jr. said the operations demonstrate the value of sustained police presence and close coordination with partner agencies in addressing the movement of illicit goods.

“Hindi lang ito tungkol sa mga nakumpiskang produkto. It is about making sure that illegal shipments do not find an easy path into our communities and markets. We will keep working with the Bureau of Customs and our other partners, act on reliable information, and make sure every operation is done properly and within the bounds of the law,” PGen Nartatez said.

PNP, PARTNER AGENCIES ARREST 5 SUSPECTS, SEIZE NEARLY 95 KILOS OF DRUGS WITH P144.7-M SDP IN ONE-DAY OPS

Nearly 95 kilograms of suspected illegal drugs with a combined Standard Drug Price (SDP) of P144.765 million were seized in separate operations conducted by the Philippine National Police (PNP) and its partner agencies in Metro Manila, Western Visayas, and CALABARZON on September 1, 2026.

The biggest seizure was recorded at the Customs Secondary Inspection Area of the Customs International Arrival Area, Ninoy Aquino International Airport Terminal 3 in Pasay City, where authorities recovered a combined 94.561 kilograms of suspected Ma*****na Kush with an SDP of P141.841 million.

The shipment was initially flagged during X-ray inspection after presenting a suspicious image. A subsequent K-9 screening indicated the possible presence of illegal drugs, leading to a manual inspection and the recovery of the suspected contraband. The seized items were turned over to the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency Laboratory Service for proper documentation and disposition.

In Western Visayas, a buy-bust operation in Estancia, Iloilo resulted in the arrest of four individuals and the recovery of approximately 230 grams of suspected shabu, with an SDP of P1.564 million. Meanwhile, a separate operation in Batangas City led to the arrest of a 31-year-old male and the recovery of approximately 200 grams of suspected shabu, with an SDP of P1.36 million.

NCR’s NO. 4 MOST WANTED PERSON COLLARED IN QUEZON CITY OVER SEXUAL ASSAULT, STATUTORY R**E

The Philippine National Police, under the command of PNP Chief PGEN Jose Melencio C. Nartatez Jr., arrested a high-value wanted person in Quezon City on September 1, 2026, strengthening efforts to locate individuals facing serious criminal charges and bring them before the proper judicial authorities.

Operatives of the Quezon City Police District–Criminal Investigation and Detection Unit (QCPD-CIDU), in coordination with the Quezon City District Intelligence and Tactical Unit (QCDIT) and Regional Intelligence Unit-NCR (RIU-NCR), apprehended a 31-year-old male in Barangay Kamuning, Quezon City. He was identified as the No. 4 Most Wanted Person at the regional level and No. 2 Most Wanted Person at the district level.

The arrest stemmed from intelligence information provided by QCDIT and RIU-NCR, which led police operatives to the suspect’s location. He was apprehended by virtue of a warrant of arrest for Sexual Assault under Article 266-A (2) of the Revised Penal Code and Statutory R**e under Article 266-A, Paragraph 1(D), as amended by Republic Acts Nos. 8353 and 11648. The Sexual Assault charge is bailable, while no bail was recommended for the Statutory R**e charge.

Following his arrest, the suspect was brought to the concerned police unit for documentation and proper processing. The warrant of arrest will be returned to the court of origin for appropriate action.

“Wanted persons facing serious criminal charges must be brought before the courts to answer for the allegations against them. We will sustain intelligence-driven efforts to locate and apprehend those sought by the law,” PGen Nartatez said.

TWO MOST WANTED PERSONS ARRESTED OVER QUALIFIED R**E OF MINOR CASES IN CAMARINES SUR, AGUSAN DEL NORTE

The Philippine National Police (PNP) arrested two individuals listed among the Most Wanted Persons in their respective police regions during separate early-morning operations on September 1, 2026, as police units continue to account for individuals with outstanding warrants and help move cases forward through the proper legal process.

In Camarines Sur, personnel of the Magarao Municipal Police Station, Camarines Sur Police Provincial Office, and Regional Intelligence Unit 5 arrested a legal-age Filipino male in Barangay San Miguel, Calabanga. He was ranked No. 5 Most Wanted Person in Police Regional Office 5 and was arrested by virtue of a warrant for Qualified R**e of a Minor. He is currently under police custody.

In Agusan del Norte, personnel of the Las Nieves Municipal Police Station, Agusan del Norte Police Provincial Office, and 1304th Maneuver Company, Regional Mobile Force Battalion 13, arrested another legal-age Filipino male in Barangay Bonifacio, Las Nieves. Ranked No. 2 Most Wanted Person in Police Regional Office 13, he was arrested pursuant to warrants for four counts of Qualified R**e of a Minor and is now under police custody.

Chief PNP Police General Jose Melencio C. Nartatez Jr. said the arrests demonstrate the importance of sustained police work in locating wanted persons, particularly those who remain the subject of active warrants.

“A warrant is not something we simply file away and forget. Kapag may taong hinahanap ng batas, our responsibility is to keep working until that person is located and the case can proceed where it belongs. That steady work matters, especially to the victims and their families who continue to wait for justice,” PGen Nartatez said.
