Today reminded me that my work is more than makeup.

My client was already beautiful before I even did her makeup, and I think that one of the challenges for us makeup artists is how to make our already beautiful clients even more beautiful.

Yet today’s makeup session with her reminded me that what mattered most wasn’t just how she looked but how she felt.

As we talked about her grandparents.. she started to cry. I realized in thats moment that this chair isn’t only for glam but it’s also a safe space. A space for stories, love, and vulnerability.

Lately, I’ve been really challenged in life and in my career and I’ve been searching for a deeper purpose in why I continue to do makeup despite the struggles I experience. Because tbh, being passionate about it doesn’t always feel like the whole reason anymore.

And in that moment with her, I realized that no matter how my career may look to me right now, I’m still on the right track.

And maybe, I’m doing something right after all. 💖

Our bride, , wanted an ethereal bridal look. So for her ceremony look, we focused on glowing skin that looks alive, soft dreamy eyes, and a n**e peach lip that lets her natural beauty shine. ✨

My most heartfelt wedding gig yet. :)

My bride here is a long-time friend of mine, We’ve been friends since college and we call each other “Chrue Frieynd.” Back in college, everywhere Kirt went on campus, Chrue Frieynd was there too. We were either laughing, goofing around, chilling habang minamasahe niya likod ko, or I was practicing makeup on her beautiful face. Hahahaha! :)

The truth is, there’s no if there’s no Chrue Frieynd. Karen believed in me so much that she proudly walked around campus wearing whatever makeup look my crazy hands decided to put on her. Hayyy… hindi ko alam kung proud lang ba si Chrue Frieynd sa’kin or nagpapauto lang siya but whatever it was, I’m forever grateful. We didn’t know it then, but those moments pala would become the foundation of so much passion, success, and color in my life.

And now that my Chrue Frieynd is married, I’m deeply honored that I got to do her bridal makeup. I made sure she felt the most beautiful, cared for, and happy on her big day. I followed the look she dreamed of, but I also poured my heart into elevating it so it suited her features perfectly and of course, took care of her throughout the entire wedding day.

INDEED A FULL CIRCLE MOMENT FOR THE BOTH OF US :)

I’ve always loved doing bridal makeup because I get to take care of brides and ease some of the stress they carry on such an important day. And I hope to take care of more brides in the future… the same way I lovingly took care of my Chrue Frieynd. :)
