Entertaining Beautifully
Author Aerin Lauder
An invitation into the endlessly inspiring and unique celebrations of the iconic tastemaker and hostess, this elegant entertaining book reveals how to bring beauty, style, and joy into milestone events, holidays, or everyday moments and meals.
Aerin is a lifestyle legend. From an early age, she learned from her grandmother, Estée Lauder, that any occasion can be beautiful if you take the time. In the pages of this stunning book, Aerin weaves a spell as she shares memories of beloved childhood traditions as well as those she has created with family and friends using her own unique blend of luxury and ease. For the first time, Aerin also reveals how she thinks about hosting and how she sets the most gorgeous and inviting tables so that every gathering is unforgettable.
Organized by season, this book encompasses more than twenty celebrations, from a spring floral dinner or a lobster-roll picnic on a boat to Thanksgiving leftovers in a log cabin and a white winter Champagne party in the city. Mini-chapters on stylish family and friends like her mother, Jo Carole Lauder; Daniel Romualdez; Caroline Sieber von Westenholz; and Maria Hummer-Tuttle reveal Aerin's own entertaining inspirations, as does an "Homage to Estée" chapter about her legendary soirées. Aerin holds back none of her secrets, her tips, and her imaginative ideas in this unparalleled, lavishly illustrated, and irresistible volume. design ́cor

The history of Mizensir began in 1999 with scented candles all signed by a great “nose”, Alberto Morillas, a perfumer by trade and renowned in fine perfumery. The latter, unable to find the subtle fragrances for the interior meeting his expectations, decided to develop his own room sprays and candles with the help of his wife.
In 1999, they combined their skills in the creation of handmade scented candles made at Genève. This was the birth of Mizensir. The desire to "put fragrances in wax", to capture their scents, requires a perfect knowledge of the raw materials and their associations, as well as a long research work on the combustion and the diffusion of odours.
Today, run by their daughter Véronique, the House of Mizensir offers a wide range of candles and home fragrances, more than a hundred references, each with a specific scent delivering a particular mood message. In recent years, Alberto Morillas wanted to cultivate his secret garden and propose more personal creations with a combination of the materials that are most dear to him and return to the basics of traditional perfumery. Thus was born the exclusive Mizensir Parfums. .alberto

Interior designer Nancy Braithwaite’s long-awaited first book is a striking tutorial in the power of simplicity in design. In the world of interior design, Nancy Braithwaite is known for her single-minded devotion to the principle that has guided her work for more than forty years: simplicity. Braithwaite’s work is luxuriously minimalist, its beauty inextricably tied to its Shaker-like purity. While her work varies from art deco to country, the underlying rules remain the same: every element should strive to be simple and powerful without compromise, and every room must have a level of power that comes from commanding scale, repetition of elements, subtleties of color, or the sheer beauty of forms. In Braithwaite’s world, excess is not opulent. Simplicity is opulent. Braithwaite takes the reader deep into her singular vision. Divided into five sections, the book begins with her manifesto on simplicity and the aspects of design used to achieve it, including architecture, scale, color, texture, pattern, and composition. She then presents three categories of style—country, classic, and contemporary—and explains and illustrates each with iconic rooms from her portfolio. Finally, she presents several houses as case studies, displaying the power of these principles in action and emphasizing the importance of craftsmanship in design, from a stunning modern seaside retreat on Kiawah Island, South Carolina, to her unforgettable country house in Atlanta . design ́cor

Rattan furnishings evoke the glamour and laid back elegance of exotic beach houses as well as the informal beauty of plant filled garden rooms and sun dappled verandas.
Long fascinated with rattan's versatility, designer Lulu Lytle examines the enduring appeal of this sustainable tropical palm in RATTAN: A WORLD OF ELEGANCE AND CHARM. The first book in decades to examine the history and craftsmanship of rattan furniture, this insightful tome showcases rattan's appeal through archival images of beautiful interiors including Madeleine Castaing's winter garden in Paris, Michael Taylor's own Californian beach house, the Titanic's Café Parisian and the Billy Baldwin designed Mr. Kennedy's beauty salon in New York City. Rattan's many personalities are explored through its inclusion in settings as diverse as Impressionist paintings, flamboyant nightclubs and pared down contemporary drawing rooms.
A reflection of its inherent beauty and longevity, antique rattan furniture from the nineteenth century is highly collectible, as are rattan pieces created by giants of modern design such as Josef Hoffmann for Thonet, Josef Frank for Svenskt Tenn, Jean-Michel Frank for Ecart, Renzo Mongiardino for Bonacina, Arne Jacobsen for Sika, Paul Frankl and Donald Deskey. Rattan pieces have become iconic and highly prized, including Hiroomi Tahara's Wrap Sofa, Franca Helg's Primavera Chair, and the many iterations of the beloved Peacock Chair. RATTAN also highlights some of the many tastemakers who have embraced rattan--from Marella Agnelli, Babe Paley, and Cecil Beaton to leading interior designers including Jeffrey Bilhuber, Veere Grenney, Axel Vervoordt, and Jacques Grange. design ́cor

Overlooking the Aegean Sea, a charming string of coastal neighborhoods form the Athens Riviera, a serene escape from the constant activity in the city’s center. A selection of high-end hotels lines the pristine stretch of beaches down to the southernmost point of the Attica Peninsula. The revamped Four Seasons Astir Palace, with a history of housing foreign dignitaries and film stars of the 1960s, is the most luxurious hotel in Athens, perhaps even in all of Greece. The night club, Island, is bringing back the glamour and excitement of the twentieth century bouzouki clubs reminiscent of names such as Melina Mercouri and Stavros Niarchos.
Athens is experiencing a revival—in art, night life and design. For a metropolis constantly associated with the past, the modern strides in development and culture are sometimes overlooked in favor of the ruins and artifacts from antiquity. When in fact, the juxtaposition only enhances the beauty of both. Athens Riviera puts the old-world beside the new-world and a deeper understanding of this ancient capital emerges. With one foot in the past and one foot in the future; access to both the electricity of city life and the tranquility of a beach side resort, Athens cannot be defined in simple terms. One just has to experience it for themselves. design ́cor
