Hindi sila natinag sa banta ng kapahamakan,
ni hindi umatras sa dilim ng labanan.
Sa bawat yabag, alab ang dugong umaagos,
tila ningas na sa gabi’y hindi kailanman nauupos.

Dangal ng bayan ang kanilang ipinaglaban,

𝗖𝗔𝗠𝗣𝗨𝗦 𝗡𝗘𝗪𝗦 | UP Cebu Community Marks the Start for Dagan 2026: Iskolaro × UP Cookout

Dagan 2026: Iskolaro × Cookout officially kicked off as the University of the Philippines Cebu community gathered at the UP High School Open Stage on March 23, 2026.

High school teams from Grades 7 to 12, along with the four college divisions, assembled at the college open field at 8:00 AM for the parade leading to the event venue.

The program began with an invocation and the singing of the national anthem, led by UP Serenata. A welcoming speech was delivered by Sir Nathan Labra, who encouraged everyone to “play hard but play fair,” reminding participants that “While only one team takes home the trophy, everyone walks away a better athlete than they were yesterday.”

The audience was then wowed by a lively dance performance from Iskultura, followed by the formal welcoming of teams led by OSA Director Ma. Alena Macasil.

One of the highlights was the torch relay, where athletes from the four college teams passed the torch. This was followed by the oath-taking ceremony, participated in by both players and the officiating team.

Before the Mr. and Ms. Fitness 2026 competition, representatives from each team competed in a flag-raising race. The head start was signaled by the tossing of the ball by UP Chancellor Sir Leo Malagar and High School Principal Asst. Prof. Kim Bondoc.

The Mr. and Ms. Fitness candidates then took the stage for their introduction number, showcasing their energy through a dance performance. After introducing themselves, the fitness test competition followed, with winners announced as:

The excitement continued with the Dance Palabas competition featuring high school teams, followed by the Cheerdance competition from the college divisions.

Before the announcement of winners, the crowd was entertained by intermission numbers from SayawE and DYUP, along with a special performance by the Jollibee mascot.

The most awaited moment for the high school students then arrived with the announcement of the winners:

The opening program then concluded, but the event is far from over, as the week-long Iskolaro × Cookout has only just begun.
