These are the basic parts of the nail.
This is why I don’t recommend a Russian manicure. During a Russian manicure, the proximal nail fold and lateral nail folds are lifted and cut, which I believe is not the best approach.
The proximal and lateral nail folds serve as the natural protection of our fingers. They help protect the nail matrix and the surrounding skin, acting as a barrier against microorganisms, dirt, and dust. Keeping these structures intact helps reduce the risk of infection. 🙃
