What I do in each session is reflected throughout the lifespan of my clients' SMP. I place each individual "follicle" with intention and care to make the overall look appear as real as possible years down the line.
Yes, SMP has a tendency to fade but as long as it blends with cleanly clipped hair, then a touchup won't be needed. Here's an example of how SMP looks long term. Faded but not entirely gone. It's solid enough to still be visible by definitely can be enhanced with a quick touchup.
