Today, April 24, we remember the tragedy of the collapse of Rana Plaza in Savar Upazila, Dhaka District, Bangladesh. Rana Plaza was an eight-story commercial building, housing garment factories, that collapsed and killed more than 1000 workers and injured more than 2000, more than half of whom were women with children who were in the building's nursery during the collapse. The Rana Plaza tragedy was a result of corporate neglect and the corporate practice of prioritizing profit over welfare of workers.
