The Reserve Command, Philippine Army joins the nation in commemorating the 505th Anniversary of Lapu-Lapu—honoring the triumph of his warriors over foreign forces in the historic Battle of Mactan on April 27, 1521.

More than a victory, his legacy lives on as a symbol of courage and resistance. Today, Rajah Lapu-Lapu stands as a testament to the ideals of every reservist—reflected in the patch worn by every member of the AFP Reserve Force, a constant reminder that the spirit of the Citizen Army remains ready to serve, stand, and defend the Filipino people.

The Rayadillo unit is the “model unit” that preserves in its name a truly remarkable point in Philippine history. The word “Rayadillo” originally pertained to the blue and white cotton fabric used to make the uniforms of the Elite Presidential Guards during the Philippine Revolution of 1896. The present Rayadillo uniform was strictly patterned after the original paraphernalia to give honor to the Elite guards. The Rayadillo unit is now the flag, color, and standard bearers of the University during ceremonies and special occasions. To wear the Rayadillo uniform is truly a privilege and a wonderful opportunity to pay homage not only to our University but to the men who have sacrificed their lives for our freedom.
