Documented my first time to color my ownhair. Last time I visited the salon for root touch up and highlights was last Feb, in time for my son’s First Holy Communion (because I’m maarte that way🙈). Ten months after...hello grey hair and goodbye vibrant hair color!😩 I needed to fix my hair ASAP. Since I didn’t want to risk exposure to the virus by visiting the salon, I decided to just do it. I bought Excellence Creme in the shade 7.01 Cool Blonde 2 weeks ago and I finally mustered up the courage to just do it. I wasn’t 100% successful in covering my greys but I’d say I covered about 85%, a win for me! 😃 A few notes:
1. I thought the shade I got would lighten my hair, especially the dyed part but it did just the opposite. I lost my highlights but the good thing is the color is even all over.
2. I should’ve massaged in the color more at the roots and maybe waited a little longer before rinsing.
3. The sectioning didn’t do me any good. I could’ve just gone straight to combing through the roots.
4. My hair felt so soft after (except for my uber damaged tips).
5. I didn’t feel any burning sensation while the dye was on. A few minutes after everything, though, my scalp felt a little sensitive but it eventually went away. Full disclosure: I didn’t do a patch test before application. But I figured it was okay since my hair colorist used the same brand on me.
6. It’s so messy to do alone; would’ve been better if someone helped apply the dye especially at the back.

Would I do it again? I think YES! But when it’s safe to go out again, I am definitely getting highlights again l. 😎

So....here they are! Swatches of all four shades I have - Velvet Fawn, Velvet Muse, Velvet Blush, and Velvet Myth. Swatches are from lightest to darkest. Every shade is super pigmented, matte yet uber comfortable to wear. They do transfer but they do not smudge nor feather. Forgive the weird facial expression when I did the swatch for Velvet Blush, I just really, really love it and I guess that is my in-love face 😅🤷🏻‍♀️.

Maybelline Superstay Matte Ink Liquid Lipstick Coffee Edition — whew, what a mouthful! But you got me at coffee. 💕I don’t need anymore lipsticks, but coffee! 😩I love, love, love coffee so I just had to try them. ☕️ And they do not disappoint. There are 5 shades in the collection and i got the lighter shades — 255 Chai Genius and 260 Hazelnut Hypnotizer. Both n**e on my morena complexion, they are super pigmented and cover the dark parts of my lips really well with one swipe. Chai Genius is more brown with a little grey while Hazelnut Hypnotizer has more pink in it which I really, really like. Buildable though careful as more than 2 coats might feel heavy. These are my first Superstay lipsticks and it’s true what they say, these are long-lasting, it stayed on even after eating oily food. They also smell soooo good. Chai Genius smells sweeter, like toffee or according to my husband, like Kahlua while Hazelnut Hypnotizer smells closer to coffee. These retail for 299 pesos each and I ordered from Lazada. If you’re a coffee lover like me, you will enjoy putting on these yummy lippies.💋
P.S. My Biore miscellar cleansing water cpuld not take these off so make sure you use an oil-based makeup remover! Maybelline New York
