The Philippines, being a middle-income country, is dominated by 99.51% of Micro Small and Medium Enterprises. In fact, 62.6% of total employment in the economy is generated by the same sector. Given these figures, most of the players in the sector still lack support both for technical and functional aspects, such as operations management, product development, market analysis, among others.

Moreover, the sector has been directly devastated by the outbreak of the SARS-COV-19 in the country, which resulted into a recession where MSMEs were forced to close due to bankruptcy and limited operations, and people being laid off from their work.

On the brighter side, the pandemic also sparked people’s interest in starting a business. The youth and young professionals are becoming entrepreneurs themselves by starting their small businesses through online platforms.

Hence, the PUP Department of Economics, in coordination with the PUP Extension Management Office, is pursuing to extend its design and conduct of extension work through its program with the theme, “𝐒𝐓𝐀𝐑𝐓-𝐔𝐏!: 𝐍𝐚𝐯𝐢𝐠𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐘𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐖𝐚𝐲 𝐭𝐡𝐫𝐨𝐮𝐠𝐡 𝐄𝐧𝐭𝐫𝐞𝐩𝐫𝐞𝐧𝐞𝐮𝐫𝐬𝐡𝐢𝐩 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐅𝐢𝐧𝐚𝐧𝐜𝐢𝐚𝐥 𝐋𝐢𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐚𝐜𝐲” on 𝐉𝐮𝐧𝐞 𝟐𝟗, 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟐, 𝟑-𝟓 𝐏𝐌 via 𝐆𝐨𝐨𝐠𝐥𝐞 𝐌𝐞𝐞𝐭 𝐕𝐢𝐝𝐞𝐨 𝐂𝐨𝐧𝐟𝐞𝐫𝐞𝐧𝐜𝐢𝐧𝐠.
