Film Review: Songs for Selina Rating: 3/5
Songs for Selina offers a reflective and at times unsettling look into the realities of the music industry, peeling back the polished surface to reveal what happens behind closed doors. At its core, the film carries a quiet but persistent message: things may eventually fall into place if one holds onto genuine intentions but the path there is rarely simple or kind.
One of the film’s strengths lies in how it portrays the difficult choice between passion and survival. Pursuing what you truly love is not romanticized here; instead, it is shown as a grueling journey filled with compromises, emotional strain, and moments that test one’s sense of self. The story emphasizes that success is not instantaneous it is earned through persistence, sacrifice, and, at times, painful trade-offs.
What stands out most is the film’s willingness to expose the less glamorous side of the industry. It highlights the long, often invisible process behind creating music the writing, rewriting, negotiating, and enduring rejection. The narrative sheds light on how many artists reach the heights that others dream of, only after sacrificing parts of themselves along the way, including their dignity and creative control. This critique feels bold, as it directly confronts the exploitative dynamics that can exist within the industry.
The characters serve as effective representations of these realities. Maya’s portrayal reflects the often-overlooked songwriters who rarely receive the recognition they deserve, despite being the backbone of the music itself. In contrast, Selina embodies the modern artist navigating fame, pressure, and the expectations imposed by both the industry and the public. Together, they illustrate two sides of the same system.. one hidden, one visible, yet equally burdened.
Despite its heavier themes, the film does offer a note of hope. It suggests that not everyone in the industry is driven by exploitation. There are still producers and collaborators who value fairness, integrity, and genuine artistry.
The film underscores that trust, when present, must be mutual to sustain both creativity and respect.
While Songs for Selina succeeds in delivering a meaningful message and compelling insight, it occasionally struggles with pacing and depth in certain character arcs, which prevents it from reaching its full emotional potential. Still, its honesty and perspective make it a worthwhile watch especially for those curious about the realities behind the music we often take for granted.
Overall Concert Experience🎫✨
Overall, it was a solid festival experience. Before enduring the struggle of standing for 8–9 straight hours, they had plenty of activities like massages, games, tattoos, merch booths, free food and drinks, and more —which definitely helped set the mood.
One suggestion for next time: short breaks between artists would really help, especially since this wasn’t a seated concert. Even just a few minutes to rest or grab food would make a big difference.
That said, what I truly loved was how seamless the flow of each set felt. The transitions, special effects, live band arrangements, and overall production were well-executed. And ending the night with fireworks? Perfect finish.
Day 2 was exhausting — but absolutely worth it.✨
THE SILENT NOISE
The Silent Noise – Episode 1 (Prime Video)
The first episode of The Silent Noise on Prime Video opens with an atmosphere that immediately pulls viewers into a world of mystery and quiet tension. Instead of relying on loud action or dramatic dialogue, the show does something unusual it embraces silence. This creative choice sets the tone for a story that revolves around secrets, hidden relationships, and unanswered questions.
The story hints at a complicated affair and several mysteries that are slowly introduced, leaving viewers curious about the characters’ true intentions. Rather than revealing everything at once, the episode carefully plants clues that suggest deeper conflicts and emotional struggles ahead.
One of the most unique aspects of The Silent Noise is its use of sign language. The actors reportedly learned sign language specifically for the series, and it adds authenticity and depth to the storytelling. This choice doesn’t just make the show visually different it also creates a more immersive experience. Conversations feel more expressive, and the silence becomes a powerful storytelling tool rather than a limitation.
The performances in the first episode are particularly notable because the actors must rely heavily on facial expressions, body language, and sign language to communicate emotions. This gives the scenes a raw and intimate feeling that viewers don’t often see in typical drama series.
Overall, the first episode of The Silent Noise offers something fresh for viewers. By combining mystery, emotional tension, and the creative use of sign language, the series stands out as a unique storytelling experience. It raises many questions, hints at hidden affairs, and leaves the audience eager to discover what secrets lie behind the silence.

A mysterious and thoughtful start that promises an intriguing story ahead.
Film Review: Sisa (Directed by Jun Robles Lana)
Sisa, directed by Jun Robles Lana, offers a powerful reimagining of one of the most tragic and memorable figures from José Rizal’s Noli Me Tangere. The film does more than retell a familiar story it reframes Sisa as a symbol of resistance, resilience, and the psychological toll of oppression during the colonial period in the Philippines.
The film situates Sisa’s story within the larger context of Philippine colonial history. Even before American colonization, Filipinos were already subjected to centuries of oppression. Spanish colonial rule, which lasted for more than 300 years, left a legacy of inequality, abuse, and the systematic dehumanization of native Filipinos.
They were often labeled as weak, inferior, or incapable narratives used to justify exploitation and the absence of justice within colonial systems. Later colonial powers only continued patterns of domination that limited true freedom for the Filipino people.
Within this environment of suffering, the film portrays the endless cycle of loss experienced by ordinary Filipinos.
Families were torn apart, communities destroyed, and lives lost co**se after co**se, grief upon grief. In many ways, these tragedies symbolically ended entire family legacies and dynasties. Sisa embodies this suffering. The loss of her children becomes a metaphor for the countless Filipino families shattered by colonial violence and systemic injustice.
However, the film’s interpretation of Sisa challenges the traditional image of her as merely a helpless, insane mother wandering in despair. Instead, Jun Robles Lana presents a more complex figure. This Sisa is brave, calculating, and determined. Beneath the perception of madness lies a woman who understands her circumstances and carefully navigates them. Her actions suggest not irrationality, but a quiet, deliberate strength a stoic woman who knows what she wants and refuses to surrender completely to the forces that attempt to break her.
What makes Sisa particularly striking is that she stands out in a world dominated by men and power structures designed to silence women. In such a society, her courage becomes even more radical. Her story reflects the strength of women who resist oppression despite the limitations imposed on them. The film subtly reinforces the idea that solidarity among women “women supporting women” can be a powerful form of resistance against injustice.
The film also invites viewers to reconsider the meaning of madness. During times of extreme oppression, what society calls “madness” may actually be a rational response to unbearable conditions. This idea echoes José Rizal’s arguments in Sobre la indolencia de los filipinos (The Indolence of the Filipino), where he explains that when a system punishes effort and rewards submission, refusing to participate or reacting in unexpected ways is not laziness or insanity, but a desperate and logical response to injustice.
Sisa’s “madness,” then, becomes symbolic. The truly “mad” person may not be the one who breaks down, but the one brave enough to confront reality without illusion. In a society that normalizes oppression, courage itself can appear abnormal.
Through powerful performances, thoughtful storytelling, and historical reflection, Sisa stands as a haunting yet inspiring reminder of the resilience of the Filipino spirit.
Eugene Domingo is, without a doubt, one of the finest actresses in Philippine cinema for me. Her talent goes far beyond comedy, though her natural antics and impeccable comedic timing are already remarkable on their own. What truly makes her performance exceptional is her ability to bring a cinematic depth to every character she portrays. She moves effortlessly between humor and emotional gravity, making her performance feel authentic and deeply human. Her acting never feels forced instead, it flows naturally, allowing audiences to fully immerse themselves in the character she brings to life.
The character of Leonor, on the other hand, represents the idea of foolish love how love, when uncontrolled, can cloud judgment and derail even the most carefully laid plans.
Leonor’s choices demonstrate how emotional vulnerability can sometimes derail even the most carefully planned intentions. Through this contrast, the film explores different responses to hardship—one rooted in emotional impulse, and another in hardened resolve. Her story reflects a reality that many women face: loving too deeply and too blindly, only to be labeled as “tanga” or foolish because of their vulnerability. Through Leonor, the narrative explores the emotional risks of devotion and the painful consequences of love that ignores reason.
Another highlight of the film is the incredible return of Hilda Koronel. Seeing her share the screen with Eugene Domingo is nothing short of extraordinary. Their presence alone elevates the film, creating moments that feel electric and unforgettable. The cast is further strengthened by a lineup of seasoned and talented actors such as Jenica Garcia, Romnick Sarmienta, and promising performers like Nico Antonio and Angellie Sanoy. Each actor contributes a distinct presence that enriches the story and makes the ensemble feel cohesive and powerful.
Hilda Koronel, in particular, proves once again why she is considered one of the most respected actresses in the industry. Even after years in the craft, her ability to embody a character remains unmatched. Every scene she appears in carries a commanding presence that captures the audience’s attention. She performs with such intensity and emotional precision that it still gives me goosebumps. It is as if she never left the screen at all her talent remains as sharp, captivating, and unforgettable as ever.
Ultimately, Sisa becomes more than a historical drama it is a reflection on courage, resistance, and the human cost of colonial rule. The film challenges audiences to recognize that tyranny only survives when people are forced into submission. As Rizal famously wrote, “There are no tyrants where there are no slaves.” The message remains painfully relevant today: real freedom begins when individuals find the courage to refuse oppression.

Pretty privilege is real💁🏻♀️
It’s uncomfortable, but denying it won’t change the truth.
People tend to listen more to those who look good. They notice those who look polished.
They give chances to those who appear confident and put together.
In a competitive world, appearance often speaks before you do.
And if you’re never noticed, how will you ever be considered?
That may sound unfair because sometimes it is.
But here’s what makes it powerful: not all beauty is something you’re born with.
Some attractiveness is built through discipline.
Confidence is practiced.
Presence is trained.
An aura is developed over time.
You don’t fix yourself up to impress others.
You refine yourself to expand your access.
Looking presentable isn’t about vanity it’s strategy. It gets you closer to rooms where decisions are made.
And once you’re inside, that’s when your talent, work ethic, intelligence, and ambition truly matter.
Pretty privilege may open the door
but it cannot walk the path for you.
So don’t underestimate self-care.
Don’t dismiss grooming.
Don’t ignore posture, style, and the way you carry yourself.
These aren’t shallow things. They’re leverage.
If you want more opportunities,
start with how you present yourself to the world.
Because sometimes, the first step toward your dreams is simply being seen.💯
From the very first scene, Marcus felt omnipresent his energy filled every corner of the stage. When his character finally emerged alive in the narrative, it was nothing short of electrifying. Every line he delivered pierced straight through the heart. The intensity was undeniable. Marcus wasn’t just part of the story — he was the star of the play.
Epi Quizon, who portrayed Marcus, gave a performance that can only be described as masterful. It’s no surprise he’s considered one of the best in his craft. He brought a refreshing dimension to the material layering humor, depth, and emotional weight into scenes that could have easily fallen flat. There were moments when he seemed capable of carrying the entire production on his own, standing strong even without supporting characters.
Marcus’s character, once seemingly nonexistent in the larger picture, ultimately proved to be a crucial pillar of the story. His presence reshaped the narrative and deepened its emotional impact.
Overall, the production was intense, thought-provoking, and thoroughly engaging. Even knowing what would happen didn’t lessen the experience. Instead, it amplified it allowing us to appreciate the performances, the writing, and the psychological depth even more.
That’s how commanding his presence was.
The banter between the characters added so much flavor to the story. Their exchanges felt natural yet sharp, providing both comic relief and emotional resonance. Meanwhile, Romnick Sarmenta delivered some of the most unforgettable lines in the play.
Especially with Elijah Canlas’s portrayal of Lance. When a role demands raw emotion, subtle shifts, and authenticity, he absolutely delivers. I MEAN HE'S ONE OF THE BEST IN THE FILM INDUSTRY. His timing and restraint balanced Marcus’s intensity beautifully, creating a dynamic that elevated every shared scene. Even for those of us who had already watched the movie version, the play still managed to surprise and move us.
The plot twist delivered the same bizarre, almost unsettling reaction proof of how powerful the storytelling remains regardless of format. It never failed to amuse, inspire, and provoke thought.
One of the most compelling aspects of the production was its setting. The decision to retain the pandemic backdrop made everything feel more intimate and relevant. The unchanged setting intensified the emotional claustrophobia, mirroring the internal struggles of the characters. It grounded the story in a reality we all understand too well.
At its core, the play is a chilling exploration of trauma, manipulation, and PTSD. It shows how a single wound when left unhealed can distort perspective and ultimately bring out the worst in a person. It’s a sobering reminder that life is messy, and we often have no idea what others are truly capable of when pushed by pain.
It’s the kind of play that lingers long after the curtain falls.🎬👏🏻

At first, I thought it was just a typical love-hate relationship story. But every scene struck me deeply. I watched it with my partner & we’ve been together for ten years and even on our ride home, we were still talking about it. That alone says so much about the film’s impact.
There were so many realizations from the perspective of someone in a long-term relationship. The line that hit me the hardest was when Ellie said, “We’re not afraid to hurt each other anymore.” No relationship is perfect, but I’m sure we can all agree how exhausting it becomes when every heated argument turns into saying things that cut too deep; words that linger and can’t simply be undone by a quick “sorry.” Emotional wounds don’t disappear that easily.
Many people talk about Ellie letting go despite everything, but not enough talk about what led to her actions in the first place. Most of us are products of what we’ve been through. In the film, Eric genuinely loved her so much that he forgot himself in the process. He allowed her the freedom to choose even when it meant risking their relationship. But for me, both of them acted on their temptations and unresolved desires. It wasn’t just one person’s fault. In the end, he convinced himself that everything happened because he loved more. But that isn’t entirely true. They both loved just in their own ways.
Ellie, however, wasn’t fully honest or open about her struggles. She let her emotions guide her decisions in ways that created unnecessary confusion and pain for the people around her. And yes, both of them were wrong at certain points. Love is rarely black and white.
Then there’s the ending when Eric kept repeating, "dahil ako ang mas nagmahal, ako ang laging naghihintay." not realizing that Ellie had come first.
That scene was heartbreaking in a quiet, reflective way.
My two cents on the story/film
Love alone isn’t enough.
You can love someone deeply and still not be aligned. Different timelines, different dreams, different emotional maturity levels those things matter. Love isn’t just about feelings; it’s about choosing each other consistently and being on the same page about where you’re going.
You can’t pour from an empty cup.
If you’re unhealed, unsure, or still figuring yourself out, being in a relationship won’t magically fix that. You’ll end up hurting/bleeding on someone who doesn't cut you & someone who genuinely loves you. Love requires self-awareness, honesty, and accountability not just chemistry and comfort.
At the end of the day, they both loved just not in the same way, not at the same pace, and maybe not in the same season of their lives.

WONDERFUL MOMENTS MUSIC FEST – DAY 2 LINEUP RATINGS
MIKBRENT 7/10
Mika was absolutely stunning—she has incredible stage presence and is a true performer who completely commands the audience’s attention. We were fully focused on her the entire time. In comparison, Brent seemed more focused on acting cute, and his stage time felt rushed and less impactful.
OVER OCTOBER – 8/10
I honestly didn’t know most of his songs at first, but when he performed Dulo, the entire crowd suddenly came alive. It was one of those moments where you realize how powerful one hit song can be — everyone singing in unison, phones up, instant connection.
PAROKYA NI EDGAR – 100000/10
Millennials, this was our moment. Even the younger crowd knew the lyrics! There wasn’t a single dull part in their set. Every joke landed, every song hit, and the crowd interaction felt so natural. They turned the mood from “casually enjoying the night” to “this is a core memory.” Unexpectedly, they ended up being the act I enjoyed the most. Pure nostalgia, pure chaos, pure fun.
KAMIKAZEE – 8/10
As someone in their 30s, we were already exhausted by this point — but somehow, we still found ourselves jumping and screaming. Their energy on stage is insane and incredibly contagious. When Narda started playing, it didn’t matter how tired we were anymore. That was a full-blast, scream-your-heart-out moment.
BAMBOO – 7/10
Bamboo delivered a strong and steady performance. He didn’t talk much — just went straight from song to song — but his stage presence and vocal power carried the set. He never disappoints. The only thing was that his set felt a bit long, especially since BINI was up next and the crowd was clearly anticipating them.
BINI – 10000/10
Bias aside, their set was beautifully arranged. The production value, choreography, transitions — everything felt intentional and polished they're all in sync. They know exactly how to engage with their fans and the crowd. Even when Aiah had to leave after Infinity, they handled it professionally and didn’t let it affect the overall energy of the show. Talent, humor, stage presence they really proved why they’re one of the most awaited acts.
CUP OF JOE – 8.5/10
We were completely drained by this time, but their vocals were so soothing and satisfying to listen to. It was the perfect way to close the night emotional, mellow, and meaningful. When they performed Multo, you could feel the crowd singing along softly. It was such a calm and beautiful ending after a high-energy lineup.
8/10 Overall Concert Experience
Overall, it was a solid festival experience. Before enduring the struggle of standing for 8–9 straight hours, they had plenty of activities like massages, games, tattoos, merch booths, free food and drinks, and more which definitely helped set the mood.

Can we really have it all in life? 🙆♀️
Answer is, you can have anything you want. Just not everything.
A well balanced life and a career you want requires a lot of sacrifice of time with your family and such.
As we grew, we promised to ourselves that our lives will be a pursuit of these dreams and we would keep working as hard as we possible to get there really fast.
With our hearts full of passion and with every bit of our enthusiasm, we awaited the time for which we answered all our ‘When I grow up, I will’ questions to arrive. We could not wait for it to begin.
But, for a lot of times and for a lot of us, the so-called plan did not seem to work out as we thought of it to.
There's no secret, really. Just being contented of what you have is the key, for me whether it's worldy stuff to endless things in life we want to achieve. The state of peaceful satisfaction. 🥰

I no longer have patience for certain things, not because I've become arrogant, but simply because I reached a point in my life where I do not want to waste more time with what displeases me or hurts me. I have no patience for cynicism, excessive criticism and demands of any nature.
I lost the will to please those who do not like me, to love those who do not love me and to smile at those who do not want to smile at me. I no longer spend a single minute on those who lie or want to manipulate.
I decided not to coexist anymore with pretense, hypocrisy, dishonesty and cheap praise. I do not tolerate selective erudition nor academic arrogance.
I do not adjust either to popular gossiping. I hate conflict and comparisons. I believe in a world of opposites and that's why I avoid people with rigid and inflexible personalities.
In friendship I dislike the lack of loyalty and betrayal. I do not get along with those who do not know how to give a compliment or a word of encouragement. Exaggerations bore me and I have difficulty accepting those who do not like animals. And on top of everything I have no patience for anyone who does not deserve my patience.
