Just a day before, on March 12, they were doing their reading of school forms. My tita noticed something that needed correction. She simply wanted it fixed properly, even considering the consistency of penmanship from the previous adviser — something that showed her attention to detail and care for her work. But instead of understanding, she was blamed. And for someone like her, who always chose to stay silent and keep her feelings inside, that moment may have weighed heavier than anyone realized.

The next day, while in the classroom, she felt something was wrong. Even then, she still tried to carry on. But her body gave in. She rushed to the office to ask for help, but it was already too much — a heart attack, triggered by high blood pressure. She couldn’t even swallow the medicine anymore. The AO rushed her to the nearest hospital, doing everything they could… but it was too late.

She passed away wearing her Division T-shirt — a painful reminder of how much she gave to her profession.

This loss is not just about grief. It is also a reminder.

A reminder that behind every teacher, every colleague, every person — there is a story, a struggle, a silent battle. Not everything is seen. Not everything is spoken. Words, actions, and pressure can leave deeper marks than we think.

To those in higher positions — being in authority does not mean you own people. It does not give you the right to break them just because they fail to meet “your standards.” Leadership should come with compassion, not intimidation.

Sabi nga nila, walang bayad maging mabuti.

Your rank will never define who you are. Your attitude will.

Do your job, yes — but never forget your humanity. Never forget that at the end of the day, someone is waiting for you at home. Someone loves you. Someone needs you.
