Malamang, ang mga laboratory tests na ipapagawa ay ang tinatawag na Hepatitis profile. Ito ang isang pagsusuri ng dugo kung saan makikita ang iba’t ibang bahagi ng Hepatitis virus. Maaaring isama narin dito ang pagsusuri sa Hepatitis A. Sa mga resultang ito, malalaman kung ikaw ba’y may Hepatitis B, at anong uri nang Hepatitis B ay mayroon ka – maaaring:
1. acute Hepatitis B infection (ibig sabihin, kakahawa lang sa’yo ng Hepa B at aktibo pa ang impeksyon)
2. chronic Hepatitis B (ibig sabihin, matagal ka nang mayroon), past Hepatitis B (nagkaroon dati pero ngayon wala na), o kaya Hepatitis A.
Kung gusto lamang masigurado na wala kang Hepatitis B, maaaring ang suriin lang ay ang HbsAg at ang Anti-Hbs na mga laboratory tests.

Sa iyong dugo maaari ring suriin ang Liver Function Tests kagaya ng ALT, AST, Alkaline Phosphatase, at iba pa – itong mga ito ay sukat ng katayuan ng atay.
