Siya ang Yaya Susan ko—21 years niya kaming inalagaan ng pamilya ko. Habang ang parents ko ay nasa ospital, nagliligtas ng buhay, at ang mga kapatid ko ay abala sa school, si Yaya Susan ang madalas kong kasama sa bahay.
Siya ang aking playmate, kakampi, taga-saway, at pangalawang nanay.
Naalala ko pa ang pinaka malaking away namin. Nag cocoloring book kami bago matulog. Siguro mga 6 years old ako nun. Kinulayan niya ng black ang buhok ni Chuckie ng Rugrats. Eh diba ORANGE ‘yon?? Nagtampo talaga ako 😂
Grabe ang pagmamahal niya sa family namin. After 2 decades, pagka graduate ko ng college, nag-retire na si Yaya para umuwi sa pamilya niya ❤️ (pero nagkikita pa rin kami every couple of years.)
Ngayon, magti-30 na ako in less than a week, at gumawa ako ng “Before I Turn 30” bucket list. Isa doon ang i-date si Yaya Susan ng isang buong araw.
Pinag-Grab ko siya from her house to my condo in Eastwood. Nagkwentuhan kami tungkol sa high school days ko—yung bawal akong gumala nang wala siya, at ako naman, nahihiya pa dati na may yaya pa sa mall kaya pinapalayo ko siya konti sa barkada ko 😅 Madalas, sa Eastwood kami nun gumagala kaya full circle moment na dito na ako nakatira.
Nanood kami ng movie sa condo habang magkayakap sa sofa bed, pinagupitan ko siya ng buhok for a new look (salamat, Eastwood!), tapos nag-dinner kami kasama boyfriend ko. Simple lang, pero masaya. Sobra.
Next week uuwi muna siya sa mga kapatid niya sa probinsya. Promise ko, ako naman ang bibisita sakanya doon.
Lord, salamat sa Yaya Susan ko. Salamat na healthy siya at almost 80 years old, at salamat sa pagmamahalan namin.
