🤩🥸🥸🥸

It’s a bit early in the morning, just past 6:00 AM. Only three to five people were inside the jeepney.

As we started paying for our fare, one passenger suddenly took out a 100-peso bill to pay for her ride. Kuya driver asked if she had coins, but unfortunately, she didn’t.

With a resigned sigh, Kuya rummages through the coins he carefully prepared for the day. Clinking and clattering, they’re barely enough. By the end, he’s left with just 5 pesos and a handful of bills.

Well, he managed to give the sukli.

However, another passenger handed him another 100 pesos as payment, and I couldn’t help but feel annoyed.

Goodness. These people.

On behalf of Kuya driver, I feel the frustration rising.

“Barya lang sa umaga,” they say. Do they not know this phrase? Have they never ridden a jeepney before?

Perhaps I’m overreacting, but I can’t shake the thought that it’s early in the morning and it should be a common sense to prepare smaller bills or even coins.

Then came the inevitable. Kuya returns the 100 pesos, shaking his head and telling the passenger he has no change.

This isn’t the first time I’ve witnessed this, but it stings every time. It’s not just the inconvenience, it’s the principle.

Php 13 might seem insignificant, but for someone living day to day, that amount can make a difference. For drivers like Kuya, every peso counts.

It’s not just about money, it’s about awareness. It’s about respect.

We have the power to make someone’s day lighter…
or harder.

Something as simple as bringing exact fare can make a difference. It shows we care, that we’ve thought about the person behind the wheel.

Let’s not make someone’s burden heavier because of our own shortcomings.

This is a reminder that our small actions ripple outward, affecting not just us but the lives of others.

A little sensitivity, a little empathy,
that’s all it takes. ✨

Romans 5:12
Therefore, just as sin came into the world through one man, and death through sin, and so death spread to all men because all sinned—
