Multiple citrus essential oils have shown the ability to help maintain healthy cholesterol levels in experimental models. Research suggests citrus juice may also be beneficial.

One preclinical study evaluated the benefits of oral administration of orange or grapefruit juice and their combination. What the researchers found was that both juices individually reduced total cholesterol (TC), triglycerides (TG), and low-density lipoprotein (LDL), but they only increased high-density lipoprotein (HDL) at higher doses. However, when they were administered together, the blend reduced TC, TG, and LDL, and significantly improved HDL levels.
