1. Silicone-Based Foundation
Silicone-based foundations typically contain these ingredients near the top of the ingredient list:
1. Dimethicone
2. Cyclopentasiloxane
3. Trimethylsiloxysilicate
4. Phenyl Trimethicone
5. Dimethicone Crosspolymer
Best for: Oily or combination skin, long-wearing makeup, and minimizing the appearance of pores and fine lines.
2. Water-Based Foundation
Water-based foundations usually list Water (Aqua) as the first ingredient and may include:
1. Water (Aqua)
2. Glycerin
3. Butylene Glycol
4. Propanediol
5. Sodium Hyaluronate (Hyaluronic Acid)
Best for: Normal, dry, and sensitive skin. Provides a lightweight, natural-looking finish.
3. Oil-Based Foundation
Oil-based foundations commonly contain nourishing oils such as:
