One of the major reasons for unhappiness and discontentment is comparison.

Consciously or unconsciously we keep on comparing our life, attributes, career, and more to someone else.

Here are some helpful tips on how to manage it.

1. Make sure to invest in yourself - show yourself some love by investing in things that you want as well as sparing some funds for self-improvements like skills training, courses or a spa treatment. Just ascertain that you will only spend according to your means.

2. Humanize don’t idealize - you are a human and sometimes being idealistic about who you are or “must be” makes you feel that emptiness. Just be who you are and from there enjoy every step of self-improvement.

3. Make peace with everything rather than resisting or fighting it - you are not that well off. That is fine. You are dark-skinned. That is beauty. You are a short person. That is cuteness. Resisting on your current situation or things out of your control will only cause fury and comparison. Accept over resistance.

4. Self-acceptance - when you resist who you are and what you look like, you create a hole that no one else can fill but yourself… until you start embracing your flaws.

5. Life is not a competition - who said that you should be better than anyone else? We are equal and gifted in different ways.

6. Have a grateful heart - gratefulness is the mother of all Happiness and when you are happy everything follows to be light and easy.

7. Your present is not the end of the story - the present you and your present situation are just the beginning. With hard work and perseverance, you can always improve all aspects of your life. Accept things by now but dream to succeed.

8. The only person you should compare with is yourself - have a better version of who you are each day. A 1% improvement daily is a 365% upgrade in a year.

When we compare ourselves or our life to someone else, we ignore the things we have at the moment and we take for granted our own journey which is also full of diamonds and special gems.

There is no need to compare.
