Ready-to Use Therapeutic Food (RUTF) is more than a carefully crafted nourishmentโ€”it is a quiet lifeline, carrying the promise of recovery within every sachet. Hidden behind its simplicity is the power to restore vitality, awaken resilience, and guide malnourished children back toward the path of healthy growth. Its significance lies not only in what it contains, but in the future, it helps rebuild.

In the course of our nutrition work, we encounter children whose growth and health have been severely affected by malnutrition. These situations remind us of the importance of timely and appropriate nutrition interventions, including the use of RUTF. Although RUTF has become an essential component in the treatment of severe acute malnutrition, many people are still unfamiliar with its purpose and significance. By understanding what RUTF is, who receives it, and how it supports recovery, we can better appreciate its role in helping vulnerable children regain their health and giving them a chance for a brighter future.

This Hypertension Awareness Month, the National Nutrition Council (NNC) encourages the public to know their numbers and adopt healthier eating and lifestyle habits to help maintain normal blood pressure and support overall heart health.

High blood pressure often has no symptoms, but it can lead to serious health problems such as heart disease, stroke, and kidney failure if left unmanaged.

Following the Pinggang Pinoy food guide can help individuals achieve balanced meals by consuming Go, Grow, and Glow foods in appropriate portions. Reducing salt intake, eating more fruits and vegetables, drinking enough water, staying physically active, managing stress, and getting enough sleep are likewise important in promoting a healthier lifestyle.

The public is also advised to limit the consumption of high-sodium foods such as instant noodles, chips, canned goods, processed meats, and salty sauces, as excessive sodium intake may contribute to elevated blood pressure.

Regular blood pressure monitoring and making informed nutrition choices are important steps toward preventing hypertension and its complications.

By making healthy food and lifestyle choices every day, we can all contribute to building healthier hearts and healthier communities.
