*Petrified wood* = لکڑی جو پتھر بن گئی 🪵➡️🪨

*آسان تعریف:*
جب کوئی درخت مرنے کے بعد کیچڑ، ریت یا آتش فشاں راکھ میں دب جاتا ہے، تو لاکھوں سال میں اس کی لکڑی کے خلیوں میں پانی کے ساتھ _silica_ جیسے معدنیات بھر جاتے ہیں۔ آہستہ آہستہ اصلی لکڑی غائب ہو جاتی ہے اور اس کی جگہ پتھر بن جاتا ہے، لیکن درخت کی شکل، چھال اور رِنگز ویسے ہی رہتے ہیں۔

*3 اہم باتیں:*

1. *Process*: Fossilization کا نام ہے _permineralization_۔ یہ 50 لاکھ سے 20 کروڑ سال لے سکتا ہے
2. *Look*: اکثر colorful ہوتا ہے - سرخ، نارنجی، نیلا، جامنی۔ رنگ لوہا، مینگنیز، کاپر جیسے minerals سے آتے ہیں
3. *Hardness*: اب یہ لکڑی نہیں بلکہ quartz ہے، تو hardness 6.5-7 Mohs ہوتی ہے۔ پالش ہو کر بہت چمکدار بنتا ہے
