The digestive system is a complex but amazing process that turns the food we eat into energy and nutrients for the body. Here's how it works:

✅ *Mouth* – Digestion begins with chewing and saliva breaking down starch.
✅ *Esophagus* – Transports food to the stomach through peristalsis.
✅ *Stomach* – Mixes food with acid and enzymes to digest proteins.
✅ *Small Intestine* – Main site for nutrient absorption (with help from liver & pancreas).
✅ *Liver & Gallbladder* – Produce and store bile to digest fats.
✅ *Pancreas* – Releases enzymes for digestion.
✅ *Large Intestine* – Absorbs water and forms f***s.
✅ Re**um & A**s – Excretes waste from the body.

*Structure and function in different animal groups:*

1. *Fish* :
* Primitive nephron with a simple glomerulus and short renal tubule
* No Loop of Henle
* Excretes large amounts of dilute urine

2. *Amphibians* :
* More complex nephron with a distinct glomerulus and longer renal tubule
- Primitive Loop of Henle
- Excretes moderate amounts of dilute urine

3. *Reptiles* :
* - Well-developed nephron with a complex glomerulus and long renal tubule
* More developed Loop of Henle
* Excretes small amounts of concentrated urine

4. *Aves* (Birds):
* Unique nephron with a reptilian-like structure, but adapted for water conservation
* Well-developed Loop of Henle
* Produces small amounts of highly concentrated urine

5. *Mammals* :
- Highly specialized nephron with a complex glomerulus and long renal tubule
- Highly developed Loop of Henle
- Excretes moderate amounts of concentrated urine
