HOW TO HANDLE PAKISTAN AFFAIR?

Pakistan Affairs is generally believed to be a comparatively low-scoring subject. There are different takes of different people on this very subject. Some of them believed that the Pre-partition portion can fetch you good marks whereas the others have been found favoring the post-partition era. But thanks to the uncertain nature of FPSC, no one is sure as to which portion will be given more weight-age. The prime example is the CSS-2017 Pakistan Affairs paper where the examiner has turned a blind eye towards the Pre-partition era. Still, you cannot omit the Pre-partition era.
An aspirant needs to have all the aspects completely covered since examiner can surprise you in his/her own possible style.
Therefore, the aspirant needs to have a very tactical approach and bear in mind that the can pave the way towards success.
An aspirant needs to analyze the past papers along with keeping an eye on the course prescribed by the FPSC.
As Sir Francis Bacon states, “Some books are to be read only in parts, others to be read, but not curiously, and some to be read wholly, and with diligence and attention.”
Similar kind of a thing applies on the subjects included in CSS.
Even in Pakistan Affairs, you need to categorize the topics into two main portions.
1. The topics to be read wholly, and with diligence and attention.
2. The topics to be read the sake of coherence and MCQs.

The first category comprises the topics that embody the main and significant events.
The second category consists of the topics that provide connectivity among various main events and good from the point of MCQs as well.

4 TYPES OF READING SKILLS EVERY READER SHOULD KNOW.

1. Intensive Reading:

In this type of reading skill;
➡️The reader dives deep into a given text.
➡️The reader wants to analyze not only every idea expressed in it but also the words and phrases the author has used.
➡️Intensive reading is usually regarded as an advanced reading activity.
➡️To read intensively, you need to be able to;
-an Have advanced vocabulary range
-Excellent attention span

-Familiarity with the

2. Extensive Reading
Extensive reading is reading for pleasure.
➡️Here, the reader doesn't have to analyze each part of the reading material or scratch his head anytime he's not sure what the author wanted to say.
➡️Reading extensively implies that the reader is reading to get the bigger picture, enjoy the story, and pass the time.
➡️Extensive reading should not be confused with passive reading.
Because in extensive reading, While you are absorbing a certain material for pleasure, you still want to take in new knowledge and engross yourself in the story.
➡️Regular extensive reading helps you acquire new vocabulary too. It also builds a healthy habit of reading for pleasure.

3. Skimming:
➡️In this reading skill, the reader goes over a text briefly before he or she decides whether to read it whole or not.
Here's how readers can apply the skimming technique:
⚫Look at the title and table of contents of your material
⚫Go over the text quickly to get the gist of the material
⚫Pay attention to bolded or italicized sentences
This technique is useful because it saves you plenty of time. You don't have to start reading some material deeply only to conclude after a while that it has no use for you.

4. Scanning
➡️Scanning is the technique a reader uses to locate specific bits of information in texts. Usually, he already knows what the text is about, and he knows it contains the information he or she needs.
