A devastating flood in Nepal has severely affected hydropower projects. More than 100 people are reportedly trapped inside a tunnel at the Trishuli 3A Hydropower Project. The Nepalese Army is using drilling equipment to create a passage to reach those trapped, while difficult mountainous terrain and bad weather are making rescue operations extremely challenging.
The situation urgently needs international attention. The United Nations, international relief organizations, and specialized rescue teams should provide advanced equipment and technical assistance to help rescue the trapped workers as quickly as possible.
Every minute matters. The priority must be to bring those trapped inside the tunnel to safety.
🌊 Disaster in the Himalayas: Deadly Floods Leave Hundreds Missing
Nepal is facing a devastating humanitarian disaster after severe flash floods and landslides struck the Himalayan region earlier this week. According to Nepalese police, the death toll has reached 469, while hundreds of people remain missing. The disaster destroyed villages, roads, bridges, power infrastructure and other vital facilities. Rescue teams are using heavy machinery, helicopters and sniffer dogs to search through mud and debris for survivors and victims. Authorities are also warning of the risk of further flooding as water continues to build up behind debris-dammed lakes near the Nepal-China border. The dangerous conditions are making rescue operations extremely difficult, while thousands of people remain affected and urgently need assistance.
Russia launched a major aerial assault on Ukraine on August 27, using hundreds of drones and several missiles. Ukrainian authorities reported explosions and damage in Kyiv, Odesa, Poltava, Kryvyi Rih and Zaporizhzhia. Critical infrastructure, energy facilities, industrial sites and warehouses were damaged. In Kyiv, debris reportedly damaged a school and a healthcare facility. Three people were reported injured in Odesa. Ukraine said its air defenses intercepted a large number of incoming drones and missiles. Russia said the strikes were aimed at weakening Ukraine’s military-industrial capabilities. The latest attack comes amid continued fighting and growing pressure on both sides.

Russia-Ukraine War: A Dangerous New Phase
The Russia-Ukraine war is showing signs of a dangerous escalation. Ukraine has launched one of its largest drone offensives against Russian territory, with hundreds of drones targeting areas including Moscow and Crimea. Ukraine appears to be increasing long-range attacks to pressure Russia and disrupt military and logistical infrastructure.
At the same time, Russia continues heavy attacks across Ukraine. Recent strikes in Zaporizhzhia and Kherson have caused civilian casualties and significant damage.
With both sides expanding drone warfare, the conflict is becoming increasingly dangerous. The biggest question now is whether these escalating attacks will push the war toward negotiations—or trigger an even wider confrontation.

Russia-Ukraine War Escalates as Massive Drone Strikes Hit Russia
The Russia-Ukraine war has entered another dangerous phase as Ukraine launched one of its largest drone offensives against Russian territory. Russian authorities said hundreds of Ukrainian drones targeted Moscow and several other regions, with the Defence Ministry reporting that 822 drones were intercepted. One of the major incidents occurred in Moscow Oblast, where a large Wildberries logistics warehouse caught fire. Russian officials reported civilian casualties, while Ukrainian attacks have increasingly focused on logistics and economic infrastructure linked to Russia’s war effort.
Russia responded with fresh missile and drone strikes against Ukrainian cities and infrastructure. Ukrainian officials say Russian attacks caused deaths, injuries and significant damage in several areas. Meanwhile, the front line remains largely stalled, while both sides are intensifying long-range aerial attacks. The latest escalation shows that the battlefield is increasingly extending deep inside both countries, raising fears of even more destructive attacks in the coming day

NATO Fighter Shoots Down Drone Over Romania — Europe’s Security Under Pressure
A major security incident has raised fresh concerns across Europe after a Spanish F-18 fighter jet, operating on a NATO air-policing mission, shot down a drone that illegally entered Romanian airspace on Sunday, August 16. Romania’s Defence Ministry said radar detected the drone entering from the direction of neighboring Moldova, about 24 kilometers north of Galați. However, the drone’s exact origin and operator have not yet been officially confirmed.
The Spanish F-18 established radar contact with the drone and received authorization to engage. It successfully destroyed the aircraft at around 5:01 a.m., with fragments falling in an uninhabited area between two villages. No casualties were reported. This is reportedly the fourth drone Romania has shot down this year, highlighting the growing pressure on NATO’s eastern flank.
The incident comes just days after another unidentified drone was shot down over Latvia by an Italian NATO fighter. Romania has also experienced repeated drone incursions connected to the Russia-Ukraine war, while NATO has increased air surveillance and fighter patrols across its eastern members.
For Europe, the biggest concern is not simply this single drone, but the growing pattern of airspace violations near NATO territory. While this does not mean NATO and Russia are at war, the risk of miscalculation or accidental escalation is increasing.

Iran and the United States: A Dangerous Confrontation Over the Strait of Hormuz
The Strait of Hormuz has once again become a center of intense tension between Iran and the United States. U.S. President Donald Trump has said that after defeating Iran, he could announce that the Strait of Hormuz would be considered U.S. territory. This statement has made an already tense situation even more dangerous.
Iran has strongly rejected the U.S. claim, making it clear that the Strait of Hormuz is under Iranian control and that Iran will decide whether to keep it open or closed. Iranian officials say that no vessel will be allowed to pass without Iranian permission and monitoring.
Meanwhile, the United States continues to maintain pressure on Iran through the threat of a naval blockade, while commercial shipping through the Strait of Hormuz has fallen sharply. The situation has raised concerns in global energy markets and has also contributed to higher oil prices.
More worrying is that oil-carrying vessels have also faced attacks in the Gulf in recent days. If the standoff between the United States and Iran escalates further, it could have major consequences for global oil supplies, energy prices, and security across the Middle East.
