How to make your own face scrub

You don’t need to spend a lot of money to get a great facial scrub. A quick raid of the kitchen will leave you with a whole range of fantastic natural ingredients that will work wonders on your skin.

Our skin can be put through the ringer in the cooler season, that's why it's more important than ever to exfoliate and make time to pamper - luckily, that's hardly difficult with wind howling outside!

Exfoliating your face is important for removing any dry, dead cells that are hanging around. Using a facial scrub 2 to 3 times a week has a rejuvenating effect on your skin, keeping it clear and making it brighter and softer. Just make sure you don’t scrub too often or your skin will start to feel raw and look red.

Sugar, sea salt and oats are all great natural products that will provide an invigorating scrub. If you live close to the beach you can always grab a handful of sand too. The best homemade facial scrubs are mixed with other natural ingredients to soothe and moisturise at the same time.

Here’s a facial scrub recipe that keeps it sweet and simple with strawberries.

Ingredients:
1) 2 tbsp Honey

Honey not only firms and moisturizes the skin; it’s also naturally antibacterial making it great for reducing blemishes and redness.

2) Juice of 1 Small Lemon

Lemon is natural source of Vitamin C that can help lighten and even skin tone. It also has a natural astringent that tightens pores.

3) 1/4 cup Yogurt

The lactic acid in the yogurt helps smooth and exfoliate skin. For best results use thicker, natural yogurts with active cultures.

4) 1/4 cup Mashed Strawberries

The Salicylic acids found in Strawberries help get rid of dead cells and clear acne, leaving your skin brighter.

Method:
Mix all the ingredients together in a bowl. Apply to face and leave for 10mins. Rinse off with warm water.
